This Maya rigging tip describes the process for creating controls which are comprised of multiple curves (including text curves). I also cover workflow for assigning custom colors using the “overrideColor” option.

I’ll be posting more tips and tutorials soon.

  1. great little tutorial, could you tell me how to do the opposite, i have received a model from microstation and i have 100s or shapes under one object(transform), how can i quickly give these all there on transform node? thanks in advance

  2. Thanks Jason ! I also did all your courses at Lynda.com.
I am having an issue with this procedure here though:
after the composed "object" is created, freezeTransform & history deleted, if I  do a File/Optimize the Scene Size with all options on, the curves disappear.
Why is the Optimize algorithme flagging these curves as "invalid"?
    Thanks for any help !
