Set up MySQL on Mac OS X 10.11 – Tutorial [ENG]




In this tutorial we will learn how to install and use a MySQL server on Mac OS X el capitan(10.11). Also we reset the temporary user password for the “root” user.

  1. ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

    I tried with both way(by downloading mysql server and home brew)..still getting the same error…..Plz help. TIA

  2. Hi, R.J. Really Appreciate for your tutorial, it helps a lot. However I do have a questions, due to my database is quite large, I don't wanna store them on my mac, I got a disk for them. But I have no idea how to change the data dir for it. Because for mac, it DO NOT have a file called my.cnf. So could you please have a tutorial to present how to change the data dir. Thanks
