Thanks for the info, I was trying to mimic how the edges of glass tables appear and this video was spot on. Never thought to look online for IOR values so thanks for that too. I agree with your conclusion as well. This is definitely a good starter setup for acrylic glass. I also found that adding a refraction through the mix shader just before the material output helps a bit. You can use the same fresnel factor for that as well.
Your example renders look more like tempered glass or safety glass than acrylic because of the slight greenish hue they have (something that Acrylic in my experience doesn't generally have, my prescription eyewear which is actually pretty thick is made with acrylic lenses, and looking at the edges of the lenses they don't have that discoloration)
hey nice tutorial man
Thanks 😀
Very very well done, thanks for sharing!
Hey dude! What computer do you have: mb notebook/ultrabook, don't you?
awesome
there is a circle in the middle that i cannot get rid of
Would you mind sharing the url for the IOR? Thanks again!
Thank you so much! You have explained it so well!!
Is Cycles another programm than blender, or is it the same? I want to make a glass in blender, but when I click 'new material' I don't get the option 'Surface' to create glass. Hope you can help me?
Great thank you, I learned a lot from your Video.
You know what I wish…the focus of this video is the node editor…I wish it was full screen so we could see exactly what was going on and what the settings are that he used. In my case, the results were less than satisfactory. I found it difficult to review the video to find my errors.
great job Michael, thanks very much!
How do i even open that window?
Ur voice is very weak
So in this way you can also create distortions in corrective glasses.
Where is this "Surface Glass" Option? o.O
oh sorry i got it 🙂
there is no shader option in add node menu ??!!!
How to render it as a model? I click Export>.FBX…. then, when i import it it has no texture….
absorption volumes?
you need to switch to Cycle Render from Blender Render thats the step, and can you add other non-glas material /Texture in it ???? since i wanna make a cake in the plate
uhhhhh dude are you on blender render or cycle render?
como puedo crear una escena un misil impacta contra un avion y el avion explota y cae dejando una estela saludos cordiales
hello there, greate tutorial. but I have problem with my Glass, after I applied Glass BSDF to my cup, and then I've changed the colour to Image Texture and applied the UV, and after all that done, I rendered, my glass suddenly change to black and the texture still there but I can't see my texture clearly because of my glass is turn to black. need help please.
Just a quick question, can you export your glass obj and will it be transparent in another obj program. Say for example, I make a window, and export it in obj wave format. Then import it into Daz studio program , will it be glass in there or no.
For your first tutorial, I thought it was not to bad. I would give you a 8 , because it would be way better then, what I would do. good job.
This was a very confusing experience since you didn't mention half the steps you took and I had to go back over and over trying to find what you did.
