  1. Thank you for the tutorial. I've been modeling my own trees for the longest time. This method automates quite a bit of the process giving me more time and energy to be creative.

  2. Can i use this same technic in Lightwave because blender is simular, I was using the ad on sapling in blender to export to lightwave, but when I export as.3ds and open in modeler in light wave I only see the leaves and not the tree. Do i have to make
the spins to mesh with sapling, how do i do this…i am a lightwve artist but i use blender sometimes for specialies that lightwave cant do…Any thoughts…..

  3. Great tutorial! I used it on a tree I had already modeled in zbrush but needed to put branches on it in blender. However, in the end I have a great looking tree with branches and leaves, and the original branch kind of hanging out on the outer edge of the scene. What do you do with that original branch? When I try hiding it, it hides all the particles as well. Is there a way of deleting it and keeping the particles? Or do you just stick it in the tree somewhere? Again, thanks for the great tutorial!

  4. Great tutorial, had a go at it last nite and produced a tree While I was making it I thought why not make the roots as well? It's just the same technique but upside-down ๐Ÿ˜‰ It worked quite well and I don't think you can do that with those other add-ons.

  5. This is great! I never thought that I could make a tree better than what the Sapling add-on could do, but following your tutorial I made the best tree I ever made the very first time I tried, but on the second tree I made the ends of the branches were bare and poking out so I added a second particles system selected the verts on the ends and added another vertex group and the problem was solved.

  6. Thanks for the tutorial. I had much fun creating a real tree. I like it when people explain why they are doing stuff and not just "set that to X and that to Y…"
By the way: When I want to add new vertices in between, I use "extend vertices" (alt + D). The position of the mouse is important, when you use this method.

  7. beautiful. I`m totally new in blender and first thing I want to make is a tree. so – I will use your method because this is the only one video/tutorial that makes me want to really start doing. really nice. I have some problems with skin modifier though, but maybe that`s just a newbie thing. either way – thank you so much.

  8. What a good tutorial!! Thanks!
A long time ago in a galaxy far far away there was a tree from curve addon that worked with version 2.49. That addon gave us this freedom that we miss in the sapling algorithm and that — as you said — is very important for realism.
I will not complain too much about the sapling addon because — I admit — it's practical and fast and the results are not bad. But, for a remarkable tree, your method is fundamental. Once more thank you for the tutorial!

  9. Hi, nice, at around 8.32 you select all the individual ends of the branches. If you select one of them, hit shift+g and in the toolpanel(or by hitting F6) change the type to "amount of connecting edges", they will all get selected, that entire shift+g menu is very valuable in many situations. Just remember to deselect the trunk.

  10. Comes just in time. I saw the Arbor addon does not work any more, but like you say, it's probably just as easy to create a tree from scratch. Your vid will be the boost in inspiration I need. Thanks.
