If you want to be a pro digital artist, you may want to learn photoshop. In this hand holdy real time tutorial, I will teach you the most essential things you will need to get started with Photoshop. This is designed for absolute beginners by a pro that’s used photoshop for longer than most humans on earth have been alive. If you’re offended by the word “noob” then you’re probably not going to get very far as an artist anyway. Because being an artist means that you will have to laugh at your shortcomings your whole life, and learn to appreciate and LOVE that there will forever be mountains to climb. Also, hey… at least I didn’t call you a “scrub.” I mean, people called me a scrub when i was starting out, and i turned out okay.
Games I’ve worked on –
Fortnite (Environment concept art)
Overwatch (Environment concept art + Sprays artwork)
League of Legends (Character design + Environment concept art, UI + Icons)
Diablo 3 (Character design + Environment concept art)
Hearthstone (Illustration)
Burning Crusade(Character design + Environment concept art)
Wrath of the Lich King (Character design + Environment concept art)
Indivisible (Environment concept art)

Wow. Just the video i was looking for
r u recording on obs? my pen keeps disconnecting from photoshop when I open obs. it wasn't happening a few weeks ago.
Its such a coincidence that one of my favorite art youtubers makes a photoshop tutorial the same month I got finally got photoshop 🙂
hey I'm using krita for 2 years now but I'm not really sure how to use things and how to draw sketchs and everything like that could you help?
Thanks for making such helpful content!
My brain was screaming defiantly, when I noticed that you were drawing on the "background" layer.
It took me such a long time to not forget to create a new layer before beginning to draw.
My advice for beginners:
Drawing on the background layer will create problems along the way.
Unless you know what you're doing, always create a new layer first and draw on that!
To this day it makes me angry that Photoshop doesn't immediately create a new layer for you, like many newer art programs do.
Useful Shortcuts (For NOOBS)
B = Brush
E = Eraser
M = Selection Tool
W = Quick selection
V = Move Tool (to move layers on canvas)
R = Rotating Canvas (Hold Shift for more incremental rotations)
Hold Alt + Middle mouse scroll = Zooming in/out
Hold Alt = Also brings up color picker
Hold Spacebar = Pan around the canvas (if zoomed in)
Ctrl/Cmd + Z = Undo
Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + Z = Redo
Ctrl/Cmd + D = will deselect all created selections.
Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + i = will invert your selections.
Ctrl/Cmd + T = Will edit (Free Transform) the current layer (resize/scale/distort).
Hold Shift + Any transformation action = will change/keep the proportions of your edit (in Free Transform).
Hold Shift + Painting with Brush = will give you a straight line.
Nice beard
Thank you so much for making this, I was just about to give up on photoshop being a viable drawing program.
Despite knowing all this things, I still really enjoy this guide. I wish to had it few years ago, great job!
The man, the myth, the legend. Thanks for these videos. I just grabbed a new surface i7 and was looking to transition out of sketchbook but ps (was) daunting af
Hey trent, im 16 yo and just barely learning to draw and probably learn digital drawing in a few month so this video is really useful, probably you can give me or us like painting and color tips bcs that i really struggle a lot and i would love to improving it, anyway thanks your video really inspiring me 🙂
Hey Trent! I just started to learn with your Easy Art tutorials and I am really enjoying it, especially the fact, that you are also drawing with pencil and paper (I've seen some other courses where they only paint digitally).
Drawing along the small farm house I kept putting quite a few hours in to add stuff I liked. Afterwards I started a new piece and though having fun after some hours again I was wondering: For a beginner, would you recommend drawing as many different pieces as possible and not comitting too much time to a single one (even if there are ideas for some details left) or giving each drawing all the time until I'm satisfied? Or does it not matter for the learning process?
I'm asking because I got advice from some directions saying in the beginning its all about quantity, though I really liked shaping details around the farm house and felt like I would get a grasp for the shapes more.
Great video! Thank you so much. Very useful to learn smth new and recall smth old as well😊
Is the number undo still limited on latest PS?
Hi Trent, you briefly mentioning the compound effect book a near year ago butterfly-effected me to engaging in social workshops and me standing on the path to independent creativity. The work you ship continues to matter.
Here’s your breakfast 🥞🧇😇💚

PHOTOSHOP FOR NOOBS
Me: Has around 5 years of experience but still watches the video anyway
"total noob guide".
thats for me
Great video 🙂
Heck yeah bro, I literally got photoshop two weeks ago and this video is really helpful
I think it would be dope if you did a sequel with more complex features from photoshop
Haha. I’ve been using i for the dropper and switching back to b for brush. I didn’t realize that ALT is way more effective to bring the dropper up
cumbia
Love the noob's guide!! Can't wait for more episodes!
I've really been delving into the photoshop program lately. I learned some new tricks here. I'm sure they will help out. Thanks for the video!
unrelated and i know you dont do tablet reviews, but have you seen the new xencelabs tablet? it's a cheaper wacom intuos pro medium alternative. do you know anything about them?
I don't even draw and I love watching these tutorials.
CSP gang!
Well, the basics are the same anyway.
Thank you! <3
Ok, you sold me on your tutorials. I'll check em out.
This kind of video is GREAT and this one has all the main initial pointers. Good job, man
@Trent Kaniuga can you make a tutorial for sketching?
Love you Trent! Thank you for sharing your knowledge, big respect man!
I already know this stuff but imma still watch
Thanks for the video Trent <3
these tutorials are really good since a lot of people dont even know where to start. Good content as always.
You Sir are amazing! Also picked up the XP Pen Deco 03 on your recommendation too. I put a like on the video for you! P.s love the haircut dude!
Consider making a step by step, super detailed tutorial, on how to draw characters. Thank you Trent.
Been using photoshop for the past 10 years, but never to draw. Don't really like the "feeling" of it 😕 I use it just to give the last "touches".
Paint Tool Sai is my choice, it simple and very responsive, and really never crashed on me. And the watercolor "magic" you can do it's very pleasant 🙃
Not fancy as Photoshop, but that's what really make it perfect to me. It's just like having a sheet of paper right in front of you + the art tools! Very traditional feeling!
Thanks for sharing, and again, for the great video Trent!
Cheers!
Its really amazing that someone with your talent keeps trying to teach people. I really do suck at drawing (because i don't take time to learn and practice haha) but still i like to see your videos from time to time. I wish more people would find your channel 🙂
I hate and love photoshop ,Also every time you post a video, It's like you read my mind..
Am looking to transition to digital art, can the huion kamvas 13, be an alternative to the cintiq 16
