showing my personal workflow how to rig a simple dress in Maya without any plug ins.
This tutorial does not cover the basics of Maya.
If you would like to see more of these, leave a comment what you’d like to see covered and I’ll try to make another tutorial

Great video Salt! 😀 Keep up the great work Salt!!! 😀
Can you make tutorial on how and which bones to delete ? my rig look much different than yours, it has 4 legs, wings and tail bones
What perfect timing, I was working on an outfit with the dreaded shoulder "Splat"…. Now I have some ideas how to fix it. I'd love to see more about making a simple top, your thoughts on if you need some backing topology in some areas or not and how to deal with it. I don't know if you use Avastar and Blender at all and could demonstrate using that but Maya would be fine. I'm trying to get better so every little bit helps. 🙂 Ty and thanks for this video..:)
How did you get the maitreya kit for maya?
This really helped me understand more of what goes into rigging. Thanks Salt!
Would you recommend Autodesk Mayastar on mp for beginner in rigging?
what is the rigging for and do we hape to do this when making clothing?
what are the chances of rigging a dress that you cant alpha layer the legs that is all the way to the ground with opening in the front without the legs poking in the back ? for secondlife ofc

Hey, this is a very good tutorial and I love some points you made. I was wondering can you teach how to rig for thicker bodies like hourglass.. it's really hard to rig pants between the legs. I can do upper body and anything else…I just really have a hard time in the middle thigh area.
Thanks for doing this, I really appreciate it, and would love to see more. It is so good to have it in Maya
Thank you so much for this xoxo I learned a few new things from it, and it's such a luxury to see this for Maya.
