showing my personal workflow how to rig a simple dress in Maya without any plug ins.
This tutorial does not cover the basics of Maya.
If you would like to see more of these, leave a comment what you’d like to see covered and I’ll try to make another tutorial

  1. What perfect timing, I was working on an outfit with the dreaded shoulder "Splat"…. Now I have some ideas how to fix it. I'd love to see more about making a simple top, your thoughts on if you need some backing topology in some areas or not and how to deal with it. I don't know if you use Avastar and Blender at all and could demonstrate using that but Maya would be fine. I'm trying to get better so every little bit helps. 🙂 Ty and thanks for this video..:)

  2. what are the chances of rigging a dress that you cant alpha layer the legs that is all the way to the ground with opening in the front without the legs poking in the back ? for secondlife ofc

  3. Hey, this is a very good tutorial and I love some points you made. I was wondering can you teach how to rig for thicker bodies like hourglass.. it's really hard to rig pants between the legs. I can do upper body and anything else…I just really have a hard time in the middle thigh area.
