Woodland Photography, The Ghost Tree

In this video entitled, Woodland Photography The Ghost Tree, I discover a tree that looks like Casper the Ghost

Yesterday I ventured to local woodlands in search of compositions. What I found was other-worldly! a tree that looks like a ghost, it really does 🙂

I grabbed a few images I was more than happy with form my day out. It just goes to prove that woodland photography doesn’t always have to be first or last light of the day, far from it. Having said that though, I’m really looking forward to photographing a couple of my shots again during a wet and foggy day. That will just be the icing on the cake!

Thanks
Gary

  1. If you go down to the woods today, you're in for a big surprise. If you go down to the woods to today, you won't see much of the sky. For here and there you'll hear a buzz, a couple of clicks for certain because, today's the day that Gary Gough gets his ghost tree!!!! 🙂 😛

  2. Yes, cool tree. Look forward to you bringing lights on it to see it high lighted. Also, I wonder if you could take multiple shots of it from slightly different angles and merge them so it blurs/streaks out the background trees?

  3. Hi Gary, another great video and glad to see you back again , also some tasty images there mate, I,m not sure which scared me more the Ghost tree or youstanding besides it, all te best Ian

  4. I always enjoy your videos and photographs. Thank you for the kind lectures. In this video, you said that you took several pictures with a slow shutter. But I cannot understand the reason to use a slow shutter. It seemed you had enough ambient light so that you could photograph with fast speed. Or the ND filter blocked enough light?

  5. A really enjoyable video Gary I have to disagree with your fave shot though I liked the natural arch ones you took both with the long grass hiding the path but my fave was the one with the path as more depth to your beaut of an image pal!

  6. Skip? Why in the heck would anyone skip through your videos? I watch you and other Photogs on Youtube in place of television; I'm watching the whole thing.:) Much better than the tv anyway.

  7. I just noticed something at around 3:53 in this video. Its a perfect example as to why a timer or triggered shutter release is so important. Watch the reflections on the front of the filter as you press the shutter button. even with a sturdy tripod there is movement. It takes about 2 seconds for the camera to settle.
