Zbrush for Beginners Tutorial – Essentials to get Started with Sculpting HD
ZBrush is a truly amazing tool, but it can be hard to learn if you’re not a technically oriented person or if you don’t work with 3D modelling on a day to day basis.
In this tutorial, we’re trying to give an introduction to ZBrush for beginners, concept artists, illustrators, animators, etc. We’re going through the bare essentials you need to know in order to get started with sculpting, including UI, saving, brushes, dynamesh, subtools and basic sculpting theory.
Hopefully this makes the life easier for anyone who wants to use ZBrush as a pure sculpting tool with no regards to pipeline.
If you enjoyed this tutorial make sure you go ahead and check out FlippedNormals website / social media.

Thanks you so much for this tutorial <3
May I ask how did you change the wireframe in 44:59?
Sorry I'm a new user and I don't understand most of terms.
i find this narrator profoundly banal.
the voice echoes and is low volume.
total rubbish
watching this literally put mucus in my mouth
awesome vid thanks Henning
Animators >')
Thank you! I have a question, so once you're done modeling and getting the color into the model, are you able to convert the model into Blender? Right now, I'm into animating and I find Z-Brush easier than modeling in Blender.
I don't know but for me I can't minimize the section where "projects" and "textures" are no matter how hard I try and it's ruining my experience with the program because I can only see my sculpting with less than 1/4 of the screen. Can someone help me?
I understand what you teach
Thanks a lot, this video helped me to do my main graduation work. I would not be able to finish 4 years of study and would have to start last year again. So thanks again
VERY HELPFUL VIDEO SIR. AS A ROOKIE , THIS VIDEO IS LIKE AN ENCYCLOPEDIA TO ME, . THANKS AGAIN…………VERY MUCH
The user interface is the worst I've ever seen.
Omg.. I think.. i think I might… I think I can actually use this program now…
Good
From what I see maya works in editing and shaping three demensional shapes into what you want (object creature or person) but z-brush is like a digital clay sculpting program.
this tutorial is really helpful but the mouth sounds make me want to kms
24:28 Managing multiple objects (masking)
26:15 Deleting objects
29:59 multiple sub-tools
i loaded up zbrush for first time today and spent few minutes looking at it, it was extremely confusing and made no sense at all. I've just started learning Maya and 3ds max, Maya is way better but zbrush was bizarre I'll need to watch this video just to figure out what's it even for. It felt very clumsy to use.
AMAZING!!! mad props yo
When I draw it does not look as smooth as when you draw, but rather incredible jagged. How do I fix it?
Thanks brudda. Helpful video. Appreciate your natural, personable demeanor as well.
Is that u griffen
I got to the head part and tried following, even going back over the video again and again, and I still end up with a potato. I feel that I'm never going to get this.
how do I customize transform tools ..I cant get use to work default transform in begin..for example using mmb for
zoom in and out …
thanx indeed for tut bro..
good video but dude figure out your mic gain, we don't need to hear the bass of your keyboard constantly
really liked the alien with the weird butt lul
so helpful , this one tutorial is as helpful as the entire Lynda.com training ! thank you
I stopped watching because it anoyed me that you spammed all that sticky notes on the screen. bye

I don't understand him. How did he smooth the mask, and how did he reduce the poly count? I only heard "shift"..
AWESOME tutorial. I feel like I was in class. thank you
Useful; Marked 🙂 !!!
At 22:27, he said that the topology wasn't nice animation topology. I'm new to zbrush and 3d modeling in general; could anyone explain why, and what constitutes as nice animation topology?
Great tutorial, I was almost giving up on Zbrush, as I understand there are some quirks to the program, but as you get used to it it's the best sculpting program around. It's quite overwhelming in the beginning though and I don't like the navigation.
best tutorial, really !!! Very helpful.
Your swallowing, eish
I'm 18 and I would love to get into this but I don't know where to start, should I keep drawing and get zbrushcore? help needed lol
Awesome sir. .
great tut, but your confusing 3:10 when you say to begin sculpting by clicking the big icon (the golden simple brush button, then without saying anything you click the "cylinder 3D" button then do something else lol
