Zbrush for Beginners Tutorial – Essentials to get Started with Sculpting HD
ZBrush is a truly amazing tool, but it can be hard to learn if you’re not a technically oriented person or if you don’t work with 3D modelling on a day to day basis.

In this tutorial, we’re trying to give an introduction to ZBrush for beginners, concept artists, illustrators, animators, etc. We’re going through the bare essentials you need to know in order to get started with sculpting, including UI, saving, brushes, dynamesh, subtools and basic sculpting theory.

Hopefully this makes the life easier for anyone who wants to use ZBrush as a pure sculpting tool with no regards to pipeline.

  1. Thank you! I have a question, so once you're done modeling and getting the color into the model, are you able to convert the model into Blender? Right now, I'm into animating and I find Z-Brush easier than modeling in Blender.

  2. I don't know but for me I can't minimize the section where "projects" and "textures" are no matter how hard I try and it's ruining my experience with the program because I can only see my sculpting with less than 1/4 of the screen. Can someone help me?

  3. Thanks a lot, this video helped me to do my main graduation work. I would not be able to finish 4 years of study and would have to start last year again. So thanks again

  4. i loaded up zbrush for first time today and spent few minutes looking at it, it was extremely confusing and made no sense at all. I've just started learning Maya and 3ds max, Maya is way better but zbrush was bizarre I'll need to watch this video just to figure out what's it even for. It felt very clumsy to use.

  5. At 22:27, he said that the topology wasn't nice animation topology. I'm new to zbrush and 3d modeling in general; could anyone explain why, and what constitutes as nice animation topology?

  6. Great tutorial, I was almost giving up on Zbrush, as I understand there are some quirks to the program, but as you get used to it it's the best sculpting program around. It's quite overwhelming in the beginning though and I don't like the navigation.

  7. great tut, but your confusing 3:10 when you say to begin sculpting by clicking the big icon (the golden simple brush button, then without saying anything you click the "cylinder 3D" button then  do something else lol
