This is the first in a series of tutorials for beginning 3D printing. One of the hardest parts of DIY 3D printing is modeling. I will be showing you how I model 3D parts in Blender. Download Blednder for Linux, MAC or Windows at http://blender.org

Always thankful for free advice. Less talk and more action would be better then explaining everything to detail. Too much information at one time can be an overload on the student. Other than that, great tutorial.
Is the object at the end of this tutorial, ready to be printed?
Do you have a reference for the "Measure" plugin mentioned at 5 min 25 secs? Or is it "Measureit"?
Excellent video. I have been using Blender for some time and it has been a slow process. Now I am getting into 3D printing somewhat and I am glad I can continue using Blender.
Thank you for this video

sir i have a question pls tell me can we use blender for vmc or cnc if yes which file type actually helps ? i hope u understand my dilemma
Not very helpful for total beginners using blender.
quick question. last weekend i ordered a CTC printer for home purpose and prob building. now i hve a 3d model for a weapon and it contains serveral diffrent meshs for each detail (like tiny little bolds or each "block" on the mounting bar for some kind of iron sight).
how can i edit this model to get an printable model… i my opinion i hve to join all mesh and use the boolean modifier to get only the surface of the whole model instead of each tiny detail. but if its come to the point where the details arent corrently lay on top of the faces of the other meshs… what should i do 🙂
can you offer one tutorial where you have a box with diffrent kind of tiny boxes on top of the surfaces as details? this would help me out alot.
here is an image of these tiny boxed on top of the mounting bar:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/f5dqdfxl5dpboo1/Battlerifle%20Details_2.png
each of them is in another container and mesh… the face located to the mounting bar is missing… thats the reason why the boolean modifier could go wrong
awesome tutorial
Nice video, very helpful.
Aussie-American. Thanks. I am a strange sounding bloke.
Thanks! You did a great job explaining.
Awesome. This is a big help to me. Thanks.
