Back in March of this year, ESA Astronaut Thomas Pesquet and NASA Astronaut Shane Kimbrough went for a spacewalk outside the International Space Station. Pesquet recorded the walk, and the footage is truly astounding.

The two-man team engaged in the spacewalk to ready the Pressurized Mating Adapter-3 (PMA-3) for the installation of a second International Docking Adapter. The IDA receives vehicles, while the PMA-3 provides a pressurized intermediary between the IDA and the ISS. The process involved disconnecting specific cables so the PMA-3 could be freely moved two days later to the space side of the Harmony module. Eventually, the docking adapter that will attach to it will reach the ISS on a SpaceX mission. In addition to preparing the PMA-3, Pesquet and Kimbrough installed a new relay box with new software for the PMA-3. And while all that in itself is extremely cool, just seeing space from a first-person perspective makes it worth watching the video. At around the three-minute mark, you will see the day/night terminator, while all throughout the video, you will see some gorgeous (and slightly disorienting) views of Earth and the ISS. It seems being an astronaut really is as cool as it seemed as kids.
