It doesn’t matter who you are, we all can get stuck for ideas from time to time. The crazy thing is you probably have everything you need to produce your next creative masterpiece already at your disposal.
Jay P. Morgan from The Slanted Lens is back once again talking about how to more effectively develop your creative process as a photographer. With more than two decades of experience in the industry, he is well placed to shed light on the subject. In the video, we see how Morgan has dreamed up an otherworldly spaceman shoot by finding inspiration from his current circumstances. The guys were already at the location for another job and had the props and colored smoke bombs from a previous shoot at hand. After that, Morgan just let his imagination run to join the dots to create his concept.
This approach is actually a great way to jump start your creative process. It can be a little overwhelming coming up with new ideas from scratch, but if you have a few ingredients like a good location or an interesting prop at hand it can be enough to get those juices flowing.
The video is not only an inspiring watch for this reason, but it also shows a great behind-the-scenes look at a cool spaceman shoot. Maybe next time you’re in need of a creative boost, how about taking a look a little closer to home, you may be surprised what you find.
