how do i get the panels u have on the bottom?
Tutorials where you do what is said but it doesn't work are so annoying. I'll put that on the version difference, but FUCK !
Legend, thanks very much for this tutorial, even if a little outdated, so ran into some problems but still managed this is what I ended up with

Just couldn't find a way to select the faces at the end to flatten the outline hahah, used this tutorial because I'm a beginner but will try your other boat ones later awesome work man!
6 years later, still very helpful! Had a lot of fun making my own boat with your video 🙂 Thanks so much!
how old is this blender version? xD
This is an absolutely awesome tutorial! So many tricks in one video. Thanks a lot!
I have 2.74 it won't mirror. or show a picture to work off of. can I do this with out mirror?
Making a Sunreef 62 in blender, if anyone wants the model, PM me and ill give you info 😀
goddd sanks
This was such a great video.. great i learned immediatly a lot..!
Absolutely fantastic tutorial. This will import directly into Unity as-is, right?
Very good – thanks!
Do note that this tutorial was done on the older 2.49b version of blender. If you are working on the latest versions of blender (2.5 and above) you must use this keyboard combination "Shift + Ctrl + Alt + C" to bring up the origin manipulation menu. This will only work in Object Mode.
Pressing Shfit+C will center your Cursor to (0,0,0) coordinates, next press the above combination and choose "Origin to 3D Cursor".You may also try to select the all vertices in Edit mode and move them to the side
so the object your working with usually has a "pink dot" in the middle of it. somehow the pink dot in my object is way over to the side. will this have adverse effects when exporting it?..and if so how do i get it back to "center"?
Check the mirror axis you are working on, the mirror modifier could be mirroring onto itself or on a different axis. You can watch my updated 'homburg' hat tutorial on my channel, the principles are the same.
i cannot use the mirror modifier, whenever i click modifier and mirror it does not show up any help? (im using 2.63)
Indeed! If you want to build a more detailed boat hull, you might want to check out my other tutorial on modeling a boat hull using spline reference.

my mirror doesnt work, why is that?
i dont understand words
Hi, you might want to watch my other videos to get familiar with blender first. This tutorial is done on an older version of Blender (2.49b). I suggest you start by watching the Fedora Hat tutorial for 2.59. You might also want to visit BlenderCookie (google it) beginner videos to get familiar with Blender first. Cheers!
@TheBByamashiro Do you mean creating new objects? When creating new objects, take note of where the cursor is, as every new object will be created at the location of the cursor. You can actually turn snapping on or off ; on the grid or an object sub-component (Vertices, Edges or Faces) by clicking on the Magnetic icon.
@Weeliano Thank you , that was it , I had cut the cube in the wrong plane, therefore the modifier was rezzing , but inside the shape that was left. Great work with the tutorials, I have subscribed and look forward to using them
@ismee001 The orientation of your cube could be in correct. Check the mirror modifier and try checking and unchecking the x and z axis until you see the mirror.
I have just recently downloaded Blender and although I find your Tutorial fascinating, and even though I have followed it word for word, when I click to add Mirror modifier……… nothing happens.
have you any idea why please?
@xXShaddowTXx Thanks for watching! You might want to watch my other tutorials on my channel. Perhaps the one on Modeling Walls, it will show you more on the Loop cut tool. The 2.59 version of the boat tutorial is a bit more advanced. Try watching the rest of my videos to get a good overview on what Blender can do, especially the newer 2.5 versions.
