dont use edge split.. it increases your polycount a lot !! use “auto smooth” under the “object data” tab

I learned many shortcuts here they are :
EXTRUDE : e
TOGGLE EDIT/OBJECT MODE : TAB
TRANSFORM TAB : n
SWITCHING TO WIREFRAME MODE : z
ORTHOGRAPHIC MODE : numpad 5 (and then press num 7/9/1/3)
MAKING LOOP SELECTION : b
INVERT SELECTION : ctrl+i
FILLING PORTION : f (after selecting edges/vertices)

Why, after i had selected F to cover up the gap so to make a window and then Extrude up, I got a dark face above the window?
When not in wireframe it selects only visible ones
