This tutorial is old! Watch the new version here: http://youtu.be/_4IN4V1SM-A
Learn how to use environment lighting using the Cycles render engine. Also, learn how to make your own HDR maps using an old Christmas decoration.

Tip: Using HDRI images gives you miltiple exposures; something JPG just don't store. Your lighting skills will be much impressive if used an HDRI image.
can u give a link to the image u used ?
It sounds like you swallowed the microphone and we can hear every tongue click and throat gargle as your meaty tonsils smack around inside your mouth. No offence, just saying. PS, tutorial wasn't bad.
My environment texture isn't showing up in the rendered view, only when I render the scene or in camera mode it shows up… Is this a setting that i can change??
ROFL!! I don't know what I'm doing either 🙂
thank's for the tutorial. 🙂
drink some fuckin water the next time you'll make a tutorial -.- k bye
well, i have to say, it would be a lot better if you would actually do the good example rather than like you said bad one 😛
I actually think it might be a bit of both.
He's English you idiot
lol loser
True! Please speak like a normal human being.
speak properly its so bloody annoying
Sounds more like South African or Australian.
Is it just me or isn't HDRi lighting casting shadows in Blender (Cycles)?
My shadow passes remain completely black unless I add a virtual light.
Thanks for the great tutorial! =)
Don't know why HDR Shop is sooooo expensive??!! $199??? Maybe you are using
an earlier free version?
I'm using Dynamic Photo HDR…..$59……works great!
PROBLEM! when i use a tea; hdr image ot has this weird suction thing at the top near the sun. its hard to explain but its like the pic is being sucked into this one area.
Hi there, I'm totally new in HDR images. Do you know a free program that does the same stuff as HDRshop ? I can't afford to buy such program and I'd like you use one that does the same effects, especially to create environment textures
It's probably because you haven't set up a proper texture map (i.e. the black and white textures) of those images.Create them with Gimp, with two levels one of which transparent, as you can see in the tutorial entitled "rendering a makehuman character with cycles render engine" by blender3dmaster, that is almost as good as blendernerd tutorials (but blendernerd rocks!).
I had that problems too but i solved it thanks to youtube great guys.
It' quite different from luxrender and blender render.
For some reason my belnder is having hard time showing textures. No matter what external textures I try to use with cycles (or w/o cycles) they just show up completely black, and this is getting really irritating. I've looked around on the net and couldn't find anything on the subject. Viewport backgrounds work just fine, and the images are showing up correctly in the image editor, but the moment I try to use them as background/texture they render full black. Any tips what could be the problem?
I think he means for the people who have not yet upgrade to 2.63.
Cycles is now a part of blender 2.63 ..
Hi BlenderNerd, thanks for the high quality tutorials. You're doing great.
I need to make the environment image invisible to the camera but still casting light and reflections ? how would you do that ?
Very informative and useful! Thanks!
What was all that HDR stuff about?
Why did you combine those three images?
What country do you come from?
I will save it into my playlist and watch this later. Cycles looks just awesome. Thanks for making this tutorial. 😉
