for real andrew cause most of materials and textures in blender render cant be applied in cycles

when first starting in the compositor when getting a new render layer there is no light layer option. what do I do then if there is no light layer

got it … somehow the main object had its renderability switched off…
I did everything from both tutorials… but at the very end when I click render image it just renders the background (in 1.3 sec) with absolutely no geometry… what could i be doing wrong…it is all in there just not rendering…?
