The task of sorting out texture files that belong to 3D models you can buy or download for free can be confusing but in most cases it’s a simple process that you don’t need to fear! There are a few things you need to know about the procedure and this tutorial by Stuart Christensen will walk you through the steps needed to re-attach textures to models. Most important is to put your texture file images inside Maya’s Default Images folder to get off to the right start. The rest is a simple repetitive procedure. It’s boring and fun at the same time! Enjoy!

I don't understand, how can you tell the file's name when you are loading it? as you say at 10:25 . You can for this one with the names but I am working on a rig I can not tell.
my uv disappears… any help?
so i'm really new to this. i've got a .pmo file that's all white, and some textures crammed into one square. can i use maya to assign the textures? i got the files from modelresource
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I'm new to Maya and this answered a lot of my questions with how to get textures to work. I still have one question though; does it import the texture images the same if they're .dds files such as a game's texture map? Or…would I have to convert the dds to a more simple image format and then convert everything back to how the game requires them to be?
I feel bad now, it is a great tutorial though!:)
I totally agree with you on this one…This tutorial was a special request from a subscriber who sent me the rose model and textures….so I just hooked them all up to show the workflow for various types of texture properties….I planned to do a much shorter version and take this one down, because the process can be explained much faster I agree.
Only slight criticism, is you need to get to the point a bit quicker ๐
your tutorials are great!!! thank you ๐
ah yes, i came to this channel cause i was hungry for some deepfriedectoplasm haha! YES!
Three deepfriedectoplasm tutorials this week! How can you possibly beat that?! Thanks Stu for always taking the time to feed my brain with more Maya knowledge. I know I say the same thing every time but what the heck, it's true. As always, my wardrobe needs a major update so a future "deepfriedectoplasm" shirt is in order! ๐
i like your tutorials~!~!~!~!
