In this Blender beginner tutorial, we will first explore the Timeline. The Timeline is where you define the range of your animation and mange your keyframes.
Then I will show you how to create keyframes to add animation to the 3D objects in your scene.
We will cover how to create and delete keyframes, how to place markers and how to limit animation to specific properties of your objects.
Finally we will look at the Dope Sheet in Blender. The Dope Sheet gives you detailed control over all the keyframes in your 3D scene. You can use it to speed up or slow down animation, duplicate sections and fully customise the animations in your 3D scene.

Great Tutorial Man!!
You're rocking everywhere
After effects as well as Blender!!
Omg thank you so much!!
ty for the jumpscare :3
ogm, I can't find how to move the indicator in time line. he seems using the mouse button but in my blender I have to use Alt+scroll. Could anyone tell me how to change it?
dude, that is awesome, when i'll be animator i will note you in the credits 😉
you man, are a treasure
Can u make this same but about 2d sprites please
Great video. BTW which video recorder do you use to record blender because mine always shows the same frame…?
Surreal entertainment bought me here
one of the bad parts about blender is that it won't toggle you autosaving. Especially with new 2.80 beta it keeps crashing plenty of times, so even animating can be rather taxing when you lose your changes in possibly new objects.
can anyone tell, me what program is author using?
My creeper doesnt pop up, I dont know why
I would really appreciate if you did slower narrations and explain more what your doing.
0:46 lets go right into the ta-tour-re-l
This was exactly what I was looking for!
pls how to delete a mouvement of animation ;-;
I cant get the Creeper.blend file from the download page, it doesnt seem to be there! Does the Texture mapping tutorial file work the same?
As much as I'm not a fan of cheesy or overly goofy type videos, I actually really like the intros you do. They make me laugh!
What a wonderful, informative, clear, well-paced tutorial…Thank you!
I set the keyframes but when i scrub through the timeline the animation doesn't play.
file wasn't showing up /:
Great tutorial! I really like the way you explain the concepts behind the interface buttons and controls, it makes such a huge positive difference for a beginner, thank you!
Reminds me of SFM
hey man I watched your texturing video and Im happy to say that you are a person that gets straight to the point and you don't waist time explaining pointless things 🙂
I also can't drag the keyframe for some reason.
Gah, whenever I apply a keyframe and hit play it reverts to what it was before I keyframed it.
How did you import into blender with the textures already on it?
Extremely good and useful Tutorial for the beginners like me. Many many thanks.
MARKER
Awesome thank you, but for the love of all that is holy, padded videos sucks. Freaking algorithms.
Now this is some dope sheet if I ever saw any.
poor cube 🙁
My timeline isn't there, and nothing can bring it in except making everything just the timeline and that does nothing I can make keyframes but can't play the animation
THATS AWESOME SURFACED STUDIO
Is there a way to move the key frames on the timeline without having to go into the dope sheet?
Thank you for keeping your "Beginner" tutorials at an actual beginner level. Thank you for covering fundamentals before jumping in and doing all kinds of things that we wouldn't understand.
Tobias can come up with the cheesiest intro jokes but still end up being funny.
(Refer to his After Effects 101 playlist, there are lots there.)
I like your sense of humor (your little comedy sketches with animation) and the way you explain things. Though I'm here mostly because of Blender. I tried to conquer Adobe After Effects and couldn't make myself love it 🙁 My question is if I absolutely master Blender, can I do all the effects I might need for movies and commercials in Blender instead of Adobe After Effects? Is Adobe After Effects 100% replaceable with Blender in your opinion?
Can you move forward keyframes to give more time in where I would want to add in animation when I add the skeleton? replacing each frame? I would think moving them down would be possible. Maybe is there I can multiple delete?
thank for Great tutorial surf
thankyou sssssoooo mutch this is what i been wating for thank you
Please talk about how you camera track still footage. But not to nag u too much i will also try it myself. I've never successfully tracked something. It looks so fun. I thot still would be harder cos nothing moves. If not, then wouldnt it be too easy? But i cant wait to put dinosaurs in my housemate's rooms or aliens, or suzan monkey head errrrm
Such a big help, thank you! The beginning was cool too! Cube gets no respect, haha!
Could you do a tutorial on how to animate the cube like at the beginning, flipping on its edge and in a circular path back to where it started? I keep trying and it just isn't working. Seems much more involved.
