Aperture Priority – Photography Tutorial for Beginners – CamCrunch

I recommend Aperture Priority Mode to all photographers, ESPECIALLY BEGINNERS. It is a good way to step into manual controls, while not fully diving into it. It lets you focus more on composition and depth of field, which is important when you are only starting off.

Aperture Priority is a mode in your camera that will let you adjust the aperture of the camera, and the shutter speed will be adjusted automatically in order to get the proper exposure. This will let you focus more on composition and depth of field, and worry less about getting the right settings in order to get the proper exposure. The exposure can then be adjusted using exposure compensation to either increase or decrease the exposure that the camera gives you. This means that you will still get the flexibility of adjusting the exposure of your image if you are not happy with the reading that your camera gives you.

  1. I tried to use AV on my Canon, but all of the pics were horrible. Either WAY overexposed to the point that you can barely see the subject or completely blue in color. Do you have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

  2. what keeps me from sleep is…everytime I zoom in or out on my lens( 18-135mm) I have to change the aperture just to have a clear picture…and on a event , you don't have time for that…..I think av mode is more for a special pictures where u can have time to set the right aperture u would like and depth of field , like a portrait , landscape etc ….am I wrong ?so I think P mode is faster on events
    Pls elaborate

  3. Hello! I just discovered and subscribed to your channel. Thank you so much so insightful videos, you really break things down in an easy way for beginners like myself. I know this is a very old video of yours, but I still hope you'll reply – I'm trying to understand which mode should be used in what situation. If I understand it correctly A mode would be great for portraits as well as close-up object shots like that of your lens e.g.. But what about landscape photos? Which mode/setting is ideal for that? Thanks in advance. I'll continue watching your tutorials ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Hi! I find your videos really great.but I just wanna ask, how do you adjust the exposure compensation? do you have any tutorial videos on it? I'm so sorry if the topic I'm asking is common sense to some, I'm a total starter to photography and DSLR. ))

  5. you are of great help…

but please do review your spelling… that's the thing i've noticed from your video… 2 rows now…

but other than that… you're videos are perfect… especially for me, as a beginner… ๐Ÿ™‚
