if you have been using 3D software such as Blender, 3ds Max or Maya you do probably realize that we are living through interesting times in terms of how these software are being developed and how people are reacting to the new changes in this field. in this video, we are going to talk about a few things that Blender as a company is doing right that Autodesk needs to learn to make things better for its users in the future.

  1. Aight let me get this straight . YouTube has 1 billion active users and today I decided to comment on this virtual post and coincidentally the algorithm shows this post in your feed . Coincidentally you opened the comment section . Coincidentally you read my comment . Out of all the million posts that are being posted on YouTube every second , this is the one that shows up and it happens to be the post I commented on ? And you still think that it's a coincidence that you keep reading this long af comment ? I think the universe is saying that you are destined to look at my account 😆

  2. I have seen the development of this kind of software, it is true Autodesk under invest in the development of Maya and max, actually exists a running gag that says that the only things that change in them are the icons, On the other hand you could compare with blender and Houdini fx, in every release improve a lot.

  3. Blender is a copycat….steal from those big companies….aka Robin hood of today….without those major softwares…Blender will not exist….the fact that is goes free because going for payment is illegal and will be sued for stealing from others here and there. Don't get me wrong, I love free open source software….but your topic is unfillial and overrated ….the fact is there….one should know where he or she comes from….love blender but those bragging without knowing the story behind.

  4. Blender is open source, that's why it can't be bought by Autodesk. And the two legal entities that support Blender development (the 'Blender Foundation' and the 'Blender Institute') are not in charge of development in the traditional way, but are mainly there to help other developers to get their code contributions in Blender.

  5. I'm learning Blender because of it's vibrant community. Your right on assessing the plugin market, with Blender being free hardware suppliers can sell more tech, which justifies financial support for the open source community.

  6. yes Blender is free but Blender is really becoming autodesk in reality because the more special blender gets then its not free no more to use these special tools..so I beg a difference with tools comparing both that are free…
do a video comparison and I will shut up
another thing is user friendly tools included in their some where
    thanks

  7. I'm a 3D Animator and i work with maya. However !!!!, have to say since Blender 2.8 i've found myself looking more and more into it. As soon as i'm finished with my recent projects i will start leaning blender. Its getting there.

  8. man, i hope you realise just how important your videos are. autodesk have gotten away with murder over the past decade, both literal and figurative (XSI), videos such a your's help to highlight what is going on within the industry. tob job, mate. top job. i should point out that i am merely a fan of good software, designed with end-users being the priority. i don't care who makes it once its made for the right reasons.

  9. For me as an employee and for my employer it was a good decision to switch from Cinema4D R21 to Blender 2.8. Our client don't want to pay weeks of visualisation of their big booths and open houses. So I decided to learn the Eevee engine of Blender. Our clients prefer fast good looking renderings over slow hyper realistc ones. Together with the possibility to show change requests directly via stream or on my monitor, its a damn powerful tool. We now have the possibility to render short films and give our client a realtime walkthrough with or without VR.

  10. Forreal, I do not believe blender will replace autodesk products' place in the industry. Weta or ILM isn't gonna just switch to it. Maya is too deeply integrated into their workflows down to their corporate infastructure… Buuuuuuuuuttt
I do believe NEW studios that use blender will start to eclipse the bigger studios, especially since productions are starting opt to take bids from higher amounts of smaller studios rather than two chunkythicc ones. For every ILM there's 11 Goodbye Kansases and Theory studioses and Tangent Animations.
The challenge for autodesk won't come from direct competition from blender, but it will come from a shift in infrastructure and an overwhelming amount of young startup cheap studios that arise all over the world. Especially now that remote work is mandatory and entire companies are being run out of people's home offices.

Tl;dr, in order for blender to replace autodesk's place in the industry, the entire industry will have to be scrapped and rebuit, which may very well happen due to the fact that the industry is a poorly designed poorly run abusive shitshow.
It certainly doesn't help how vehemently anti consumer Autodesk is. It was cute when they were the only boys in town, but now it's super easy for anyone to go "you know what? Fuck you." right to their shitty ass faces. Imo this all started when they decided to kill Softimage and fumble its feature integration into max and maya. I also have a gut feeling they're gonna discontinue max too.

  11. I am an Autodesk beta tester and I have to say that making product suggestions is unbelievably hard. I put a lot of effort into it and maya development is unbelievably slow. They are actually making some progress but not nearly the amount that they should be. There is so much low hanging fruit that Autodesk could address. They are spending almost all their time on bifrost and usd. USD is more important and bifrost will only be good in a few years. A lot of stuff I’ve seen in bifrost is already achievable in Houdini. Blender has a very long way to go before it can be taken seriously as a production tool and part of a pipeline. I hope blender puts the pressure on as much as they can.

  12. I am learning blender along with maya and 3ds max. You are absolutely right , i am learning all those to get best of them. Blender and maya is really good but 3ds max's best options are plugins. My first reaction after seeing 3ds max ui is like "what the shit is happening here!!" . After learning basics for few days i get to know that nothing makes sense in 3ds max. Its like a dying old man in hospital's bed, plugins are like ventilator for it (trying not to let him die).
