You just solved a problem I've been having for over a year, thank you!
I am doing the exact same thing and yet one of my layers is not combining with the other! And yes, I rendered it transparent!
ok but i have six layers. The alpha over is only letting me have two layers. help
holdout? you just blew my mind
Thank you you searched for it
will this work when creating key frames and doing an animation?
I am trying to achieve the mountain and sun effect by using render layers, but I cannot get it to work. When I use transparent in render, I get no sky at all, and the sun gets all wierd.
thaaaaaaaaaanks !
God I HATE Wix website adverts. I DON'T care you're Karlie Kloss.
How do you get it to render both images separately? Mine always puts them both in the same render, even though they are on different layers…
Why didn't you show how to use more than two layers? I have 5 layers in my project.
Thank you so much for this! I have been Stuck on this for hours trying to figure how to do multiple layers and You Explained it So Well! Should be a piece of cake now!
Thanks ! Interesting introduction to render layers
is there anyway to do this but with materials like one part of the animation be freestyle lines but the other be materials?
Can you help with this? I can't get the smoke to render. It renders when I press f12 but when I save with f3 I only get the front layer?
how to use Render Layers effect with the blender animation ?
iam able to do this in images only but not on the animation
Sooo glad you did this tutorial, it worked out great for me!
thank you for this tutorial! you were so kind at the end to offer to help with other things we couldn't figure out: i thought i could use render layers somehow to render a smoke with opengl (EG not impossibly long render) and then mix that with a normal scene. Even without opengl a separate smoke render would be faster, if only one could then combine them back (but in a way that considers smoke clipthrough with Z or something).
Where you made the plane emit, how do you add color to it?
Thanks!!!!!!!
Thanks man, now I finally have a basic understanding about render layers.
With the last scene I was wondering, how can you use the alpha in the doorway while also being able to render the sky?
When I check "Transparent" in the tab Films the Holdout is rendered as alpha but then I can't render the sky.
When I uncheck "Transparent" in the tab Films I can render the sky but the Holdout stays just black.
tnx bro, couldn't figure out why it only rendered one layer, untill you click on the little dots below
that was way too fast.. uhh.. I'm not understanding this. how do i even create the layers? i tried watching your mouse but it was too fast. i have no clue how to put one thing on one layer and put another on, well, another. i have a scene with a person relaxing on a couch, and I'd like to separate the layers but i have no idea how. once i know how, i can start learning to render with them. please help? :c
Ya learn something new every day …
Thank's for the help man, I'll explore this futher
Heyy man I did everything what you did, blender keeps getting an error. I have a robot model I separated the eyes and other glowing parts, whatever i did the eyes always got black it wont glow, I tried it hours and hours and still did not fixed the problem. This is the reason I dont use compositor, such pain
Thank you. Do you know the Screencast Keys add on? I recomend it you.
I want to do freestyle lines on a another layer how do you make some of the render layers use cycles and others use blender internal renderer?
Good tutorial. Thanks. How did you create that viewer node at 1:38?
Thanks for this. I see many people have a problem getting this to work because they don't know you have to checkoff the Transparent under film.
thank you for a great video – i did my first successful compositing and i am now subscribed. norm
