-How to add a modifier to a mesh object

-How to set up the mirror modifier to work best with your model (clipping, merge limit)

-What to watch out for while using the mirror modifier (moving/scaling rotating faces/edges/vertices near the mirror point), and how to use the Inset Faces tool at the mirror point to make the character’s mouth.

  1. Hello, I am having a couple of issues here.

1-shift W does actually a Bend Angle for me, and not a mirroring.

2-after applying a mirror modifier to the half of my mesh (after having wiped half of the vertexes on the other side), the mirrored object does not apply directly opposite the current selection but randomly places itself around my 3d view port on various axis (I tried to solve this by selecting various axis or ctrl+A to rotate the item to the plane but nothing).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

  2. BornCG: I'm stuck on the mouth. the menus for the inset faces isn't showing up for me to check offset even. I'm not sure where to find it. I'm currently in the most current version of blender, 2.79. Could you please let me know how to get to it?

  3. Does anyone have any idea why I can create a mirror but my vertices aren't tracking? I'm lined up, and it mirrors half of my project perfectly, but essentially I'm left with a model the same as before I added the mirror in that each vertices on the positive and negative axis move independently. Ive tried applying the mod with the "active data to display" button both on and off. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  4. Thank you for the tutorial! You solved my issue of why, when using inset with mirror, my faces still came from every angle. I need to check the BOUNDARY box. but I don't have that mini operation display on the left like you do. Mine just says "operator" and doesn't change with the operation I'm conducting. Any ideas hot to get that up??

  5. Hello, many thanks for this awesome tutorials, I'm stuck on the part of unchecking the boundary in insert faces, I cannot find that window anywhere ๐Ÿ™ is there a way to make that Insert faces window to show up? many thanks

  6. @BornCG hi, first of all thank you for the tutorial..mistakenly i started working on an object on the right side of Blender (to the left of who looks at the screen) when I apply the mirror the other part of the object (a face of an animal) appears on the opposite side but in the right direction, is it something i can do to solve this problem?

  7. BornCG Hey! I know that I'm sending a message 3 and a half years after upload, but I got an idea for you, I'm currently really new to blender and the keybinds are very hard to memorize (at least for me), so what if you made something like a document with all of the keybinds and what they do, that would help out a lot for me and probably for others too ๐Ÿ˜‰ I hope you see this and I hope you'd consider doing this ๐Ÿ˜‰

  8. A video explaining the mirror modifier should be no longer than two minutes, give or take a few. Im two minutes in and we are not even started yet. Proper tutorials should get right to the point with minimal rambling in between. Im not trying to be rude, and its nothing personal, im just giving you a tip on how to make tuts that people would like to watch and get the most out of.

  9. Hi, trying to self teach myself to use blender. I have anxiety. What about circles and plans can you mirror those? I tried with the circle and the mirror doesn't work properly. I trying to do two tips at one for starting the mesh by the eyes, and trying circle. Though I just want to follow one old video that was time lapsed. By Danial Kreuter. He started from the eye but used something to free form edge around the eye reference. How is that done? I want to know by end of January. I want to record game plays to put on YouTube. Want to play Fe. I also want an animation for the intro, I have blender and I keep hitting walls at shaping characters. I what to be time efficient for once so I want to finish making the animation in time for get to play with recording Fe. Then getting them both edited together and giving me some moral.

  10. Thanks for videos ๐Ÿ™‚

I've a problem with numpad. When I press a number with Ctrl key, some short sounds playing loudly. Is there any option for off this thing.

For example someone yelling "developers!, developers!, developers!, developers!" ๐Ÿ˜€

  11. I had trouble with this, so I'll share why so others don't make the same mistake: when applying the mirror modifier, make sure it's mirroring over the correct axis. I was trying to mirror over Y and didn't realize it until I watched that section of the video over 5 times and noticed the arrow color was different in the video. Great tutorial, BTW, BornCG!

  12. how do I fix my mirror mesh. I forgot to cut the cylinder for my body before shaping. when I remember and split away the half of the faces then placed the modifier place the mirror object one the wrong side the body, their hip to hip. the body isn't at center I moved because also doing things out of order and worked on the character's clothes first not really out of order because I first making a character for animation this is another version of that character for being an avatar for Second Life 3d platform for adults. The clothing and the character was one person now making fit to SL as well I'm building the whole body so for Second life avatar can easily changes clothes like I like to do. The animation character will only have one outfit for now.
