Thank you for the demonstration! May I ask you how did you change the position of the 3D cursor without selecting it on the left side menu? Thank you!

Thanks for this tutorial. I love the spin tool. I couldn't get it working in 2.8. But after watching this, I can. It turned out I was missing the top bar, to change the axis on which to spin on.

im in blender 2.79 and when i click spin, it automatically creates the curve and does not let me manipulate the curve like you did in the video with the circle looking tool. its frustrating

I'm using the latest builds of 2.8.. and the smaller window you show at the top showing "Steps" as well as X, Y and Z is not showing? How do I bring it up?

i'm still struggling with this as the scenario I have is not on an x, y or z axis…. the old system worked fine for me on any axis or even not on an axis… this new system is trying to be too clever in my view and I have yet to find a way to get the axis of the spin tool to align with the object so it will work….

Nice. Really wish the tool had all the axes shown as baseline (was really confusing not seeing more than one axis when I started learning the program) as well as make it able to work for other angles than just strict x, y, and z axes (like how you can set the transform gizmo to work as either global, camera view, etc.).

Another thing I hope the developers add in the future is the ability to automatically merge the end point to another mesh once you matched your spin selection to said mesh. So if you for instance want to create an ear for a mug or the like you don't have to manually connect and remove parts of a mesh to make them connect properly.

Thanks! I've been struggling with this tool, I missed the X, Y, Z at the top, kept expecting to use hot-key, X Y or Z. I like that your video is short and to the point.
My spin is different from yours, My segments do not have that nice compressed inside, expanded outside. My blocks are kind of twisted and do not make a nice arch. I tried all the pivot point settings. There must be some other control that impacts the segment shape.
