While editing this video, the full version of Blender 2.78 has been released, which you’ll be able to use in the same way. Get it straight from the blender website:

I love making Virtual Reality videos, especially these that combine 360 degree video and 3D. It goes by many names: 3D VR, 3D 360 degree, Stereo 360 degree, Omnidirectional Stereo but whatever you call it, the only way to do it justice is to watch it with Google Cardboard which is by far the cheapest virtual reality setup available:

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial, and any feedback is appreciated. You can also let me know what other video tutorials you’d like to see in the comments below.

Filmed this at the YouTube Space. Sorry for the bad audio quality! There was some really loud air conditioning in this room that couldn’t be turned off, and removing it in post made my voice sound weird.

  1. In the Youtube support here https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6316263?hl=en-GB&ref_topic=2888648 , they says , "Before you upload, we recommend that you export your content in over-under equirectangular format with a 1:1 aspect ratio at a resolution of 5120×5120 or higher, up to 8192×8192. Maintain square pixels (i.e.1:1 pixel/scale aspect ratio). There should be no letter/pillarboxing and all pixels should be used. The resulting image should appear horizontally stretched." . What could be the effect if the aspect ratio is not 1:1? We actually choose it as 4K where the aspect ratio is not 1:1.
