In this tutorial I cover the complete process of adding and animating an ocean, modeling and texturing an ocean floor, as well as adding in some stones.

i love Computer graphics i want to work on cinema area
Steve, Overtime I try to use the glass shader my renders of the water turn out super grainy, what am I doing wrong? any tips or ideas? this has been the case on several of your tutorials that I've followed. I thought maybe I wasn't doing enough samples at first, but then you did 100 samples and mine didn't get anywhere close to looking like yours.
Noob here, is there a reason you used a JPG for the background image instead of the HDR file? What's the difference?
My stones are floating in the air
My stones are beinging placed everywhere
I have been trying to use the Ocean modifier, but when I do, blender becomes so laggy to the point where I can not work with it. 😛 Help?
its looks like a river not like a ocean.
the ocean floor is a little bit wet. The floor may be wet, but that humor was so dry.
Can you then import the animated ocean into ue4 or other game making programs?
my result:

1000 like!
Does adobe have an equivalent for 3D modeling? Or is blender the only option
how do i make the actual aniamtions for the water?
can someone help me, i can get the constant animation
How to make the water move like realistic ocean? Just as you showed in the video.
Will the ocean act the same as would a battleship, like the IJN Yamato, move through the ocean the same way as it would during WW2? Or would I have to do the effect a different way?
i pressed add texture and my plane didn't look like that mountainous plane yours did, what did i do wrong?
hey, thanks for the tutorial. I made the animation and posted it on my channel. It's short, but cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AsmTKR1fQs
I press 'I' to insert keyframe but a drop down menu appears with different kinds. How do I get ocean to animate.?
When I press 'I' a insertkeyframe menu pops up which one do I select?
I am stuck all the way at the beginning I am 90% sure I follow your exact movements but for some reason my animation does not loop smoothly
Im stuck at 20:34. I found the Grand Canyon pic but its not the same and when I try to use it anyways, its all blurry.
I know this is a very old video and I'm sure you've learned this since but just in case; If you use a fresnel input node to control the factor of the mix node that mixes your glass and glossy shaders, you'll get a MUCH more realistic look to the water.
I tried to combine the sand from this tutorial with the ocean from the splash tutorial. For some reason, my sand is blue on top but it looks just fine on the bottom, so I thought maybe it's my normals. That wasn't it, so I flipped it upside-down, but then the side that was okay turns blue. I only have one light source and its a yellow-ish sun lamp. I'm rendering only the sand object so that I can figure this out, but I'm not having any luck. Any advice?
I have version 2.77 downloaded and there's no animation at all with the ocean modifier. I followed your instructions exactly. But it won't even animate.
CG GEEK:::thanks for this wonderful tutorial, but im really discouraged to move further with blender because my preview or maybe render view is so noisy that i cant even get a clear picture of what im doing…maybe you can help
can you texture the ocean along with importing it into a game engine?
thank you very much!
for this tutorial
hi is it possible to create miller's planet (intersteller) like scene in this?
What's gonna happen to my GPU?? Is it gonna be okay? lol
Hi Steve, I really need your help. Whilst rendering the water has lots of white dots, I think it is the sand, and the water is too 'see through' but changing the waters nodes doesn't change a thing. what can I do?
Can you help me? When i click on render animation and it is already done, on the animation you can see only the background everything else is black.. ;-;
Hello ! Been watching your stuff for years ,,subbed! Great work you do. Very nice and Blender is so cool.
when i go into node editor the thing dosent pop up the same as yours can you help me?
my water looks grainy can anyone help?
