In this tutorial I cover the complete process of adding and animating an ocean, modeling and texturing an ocean floor, as well as adding in some stones.

  1. Steve, Overtime I try to use the glass shader my renders of the water turn out super grainy, what am I doing wrong? any tips or ideas? this has been the case on several of your tutorials that I've followed. I thought maybe I wasn't doing enough samples at first, but then you did 100 samples and mine didn't get anywhere close to looking like yours.

  2. I know this is a very old video and I'm sure you've learned this since but just in case; If you use a fresnel input node to control the factor of the mix node that mixes your glass and glossy shaders, you'll get a MUCH more realistic look to the water.

  3. I tried to combine the sand from this tutorial with the ocean from the splash tutorial. For some reason, my sand is blue on top but it looks just fine on the bottom, so I thought maybe it's my normals. That wasn't it, so I flipped it upside-down, but then the side that was okay turns blue. I only have one light source and its a yellow-ish sun lamp. I'm rendering only the sand object so that I can figure this out, but I'm not having any luck. Any advice?

  4. CG GEEK:::thanks for this wonderful tutorial, but im really discouraged to move further with blender because my preview or maybe render view is so noisy that i cant even get a clear picture of what im doing…maybe you can help

  5. Hi Steve, I really need your help. Whilst rendering the water has lots of white dots, I think it is the sand, and the water is too 'see through' but changing the waters nodes doesn't change a thing. what can I do?
