This Blender 3D video demonstrates how to make an image of wine glasses using the cycles render engine. Blender is a free 3D graphics creation program. It is free and open source. Blender version 2.62 was used for this tutorial.

This is a beginner tutorial.

*** No dot on top of wine glass? ***
If you are using Blender version 2.63 or later and the top of your wine glass does not have the center point (see video at 5:35) then follow these instructions:
1) On the menu bar below the wine glass there are 3 small buttons that look like cubes. Click on the third button (this button is called “Face select” when you hover your mouse over the button.) The top of the wine glass should now have a single dot. You may need to rotate the wine glass to see it. (press and hold the middle mouse button to rotate the wine glass.)
2) Right click on the dot, on the top of the wine glass, to select it.
3) Press the Delete key on your keyboard and then select Faces.
4) Go back down to the 3 small buttons that look like cubes and click on the first button (this button is called “Vertex select” when you hover your mouse over the button.)

  1. I don't care how he says orange! All of the tutorials provided by tutor4u are very thorough and easy to follow. Too many others assume you already know some of the details, or assume that if the process has been described before, there is no need to go through it again. But when I'm learning, I find that going through these processes methodically, thoroughly, and repeatedly is extremely helpful in reinforcing them. My only suggestion I would have to further improve these tutorials would be to explain just a little bit more of the WHY something is done. Very nicely done!

  2. IDK why my settings or sculptings always come out differently than the tutorial videos. I always pan an scan the screens under pause to check every tab on the tutors window to ensure mine are also selected, Always make sure I'm in the preferred cycle of the tutorial, like here it's cycles render. But mine didn't have the center point at he top. I followed the steps and deleted the face, but when he rotated his showing a complete cup, his had lines across the bottom filling it in. Mine are always open like the top… Upon clicking the Face tab and looking at the bottom, there's a center point but no line like his…. Indexed 5:49m of the video. And I'm using version 2.77a, he shows he using an older version 2.62…
Also when I complete the shape of the glass and click, solid and object mode, his glass is a bright grey, mine are Always a darker shaded grey with little specks throughout. And I haven't rendered yet. So IDK….

  3. Hello, thank you very much for this tutorial! Unfortunately, if I look inside my glass, I can see some "wrinkles" at the center bottom of the cup. I think it is the subsurf's fault, but I don't know how to solve it…

  4. i don't see any vertices w/c i can delete. all i see is hollow but when i go to solid and object mode i see it is a solid shape, no hollow at all. why that is so, pls reply me, thanks.

  5. Sorry! I found out that just hit CTRL-R" then mouse wheel. but this "CC" is not correct. because there is missing . "CC" do not say "CTRL-R" at (@ 2:40) I just check my blender's book – basic key command.  Sorry about it.
