This is NOT a gear, this is a gear-shaped object, but not a gear. To create a functional gear you need more data, the module (m) the number of tooth (z) the pressure angle (alpha), and at last, but not least you need the involute curve equation (to define tooth profile) like that:
For: m=1 ; z=18 ; alpha=20degree
The involute equation is:
y=8.4572 * (sin(u) – u * cos(u))
x=8.4572 * (cos(u) + u * sin(u))

Have a good day!
Notjin happens when i add bevel?

Thank you very much for this tutorial! Everything was perfectly explained, and as a total beginner I managed to create both of them XD
Subbed, checking out the one with the textures!
I don´t understand the Bevel Modifier. This Modifier makes Triangles in the mesh, why would anyone want triangles? I thought they were the evil in modelling.
How fuckin cooool is that?
…well, in reality gears have curved faces, and these are in no way shape or form proper gears
way to keep it professional bro! xD uv unwrapping tutorial?
Im not getting the lines between when i duplicate so the only solid parts i get are the teeth, the wheel is just two lines with space inbetween and theres no option called empty in the modifier. Is there a setting you forgot to mention? Im using v2.78
Thank you very much. Very useful for me.
Guys! When I add the bever modifier nothing happens! I have checked his array and bevel settings an mine are exactly the same. I even repeated the process a few times making sure I was in object mode when adding it. Has this happened to any of you?
your video is awsome bro
Correct me if i'm wrong, You can't extrude in Object Mode ? I'm new to modelling and this sort of confused me 😛
thnks
Thanks man u helped me a lot. +1 sub
Love this, Thanks
Could I use this for a clock themed intro
12:05 "You can see it works pretty Fuc…Pretty good".
so cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge and your time with the world
Cool tutorial.
Just to add – the Add Mesh: Extra Objects add on includes an option to add a gear, which may be a quicker way to get the base mesh done.
Boolean – rhymes with Julian. 🙂
Thanks for sharing.
Just discovered you today. Thank you for making these videos. Subscribed. (Love your enthusiasm, by the way.) 🙂
Your videos have been great. I'm new to using Blender and they help very much. Thanks I signed up for the course!
I have used the default cube before. It is now my frienz.
Cool tutorial, thanks man !
Nice tutorial
Can you make video How to make 300 or 500 tooth gear ?
Thank you.
Hi I appreciate your tutorials very much as they are very detailed and include everything you are doing on the keyboard. With these tutorials I can definitely improve modelling individually. Thank you!
Hello, I stumbled upon your tutorial and I have a question. I want to make a game-ish thing where you mess around with gears, just for myself. I want to make it in blender, but I need help. I can EASILY make gears, make a button rotate the gears, but I cannot figure out how to make gears collide so that when I push D for example a gear rotates collides with another gear and makes it rotate. Is there any easy way to set this up, can you maybe do a tutorial?
Hey man… I'm having a problem with the merge right after you create all four quadrants of the gear. I hit Merge and First Last, but it doesn't seem to merge? Any idea what I am missing? Does anything in particular need to be selected that I'm not selecting.
Awesome tutorial man. I'm just getting into modelling and I can kinda get an ok result with what I've learnt so far but I know there are better more efficient ways of doing things as I'm still learning how to use all the tools and this really helps. Thank you, please keeping doing them. +1 Sub
Thanks for the tut! Your enthusiasm is great!
God. Alex get on with it
Hi man !
I really appreciate yours tutorials, it's amazing !!
My only recommendation is that you could use the screencast addon on the videos.
Great job and thanks a lot !!

He's BACK
I guess 😉
Thank you for the interesting, clear and motivational tutorial. Will you do another tutorial where you make the iron material on these gears? That is something I struggle with. Splitting a tutorial on 2 parts (modeling and material-making) seems like a very good format to me. And maybe show a speed up version of the making of the thumbnail during your intro.
