Create Alphas easily in Photoshop for use in Maya 2019

#3DModeling #3DAnimation
In this tutorial video we are going to take a photo of a leaf and extract a PNG and an Alpha from it. We are then going to apply both in Maya and light and render it.
This process works great when you need leaves on trees, stickers on windows etc.

For games, you can make an alpha channel by adding a channel to the RGB section. Then put your alpha mask in there. You can also drag the whole PSD into unreal and it will figure it out exporting on its own.

Well it works but there is any other ways to do it? cuz i have thousands of dds textures and i dont know how to make them work with alphachannel as DDS, converting 1 by 1 to png that way will take so much time:(

Nice video…woulnt be easier to delete the selected white background in the photoshop instead of erasing it?

Sir your videos are very helpful. Sadly I have a problem and desperately need your help. I use Maya 2013 on windows 10 64bit i5, 8 gb ram. After resetting my OS, my hypershade window is empty and I can't assign new materials and cannot load any textures or bumps too. I even tried reinstalling it. Please help me fix this Mr. Mike 🙏🏼

I have a question. Why is my mesh getting messed up when i press 3 for smooth mesh preview? That happens even if i have just smoothed a cylinder with just zero cap divisions and 8 height divisions let alone more complex meshes. I tried same thing on my friend's computer and it worked alright. Are there some settings i can tweek? I have reset the soomth tool already.

what about if i create an alpha channel inside the same image and save it as targa isnt that gonna be the same result? and is there is a deferents between the 2 ways? and thank you

Alpha maps is the most interesting in creating transparent texture to an object/objects (ie ripped fabric, leaves, hair, clothing, etc).
You should show how to properly save a project file with all textures and a model at the same time so the files are not lost. I heard that is the most important for professionals when working in a business.
