About a month ago, we took on the challenge of shooting an entire fashion shoot with just an iPhone and a couple $30 reflectors as a follow up video to the FStoppers iPhone Fashion Shoot. The SLR Lounge iPhone Photo Shoot has gotten a lot of attention and we thought it was time for a follow up video.
So, in this follow up video, we will be showing you guys the exact reflector lighting techniques that we used to pull off every shot that we took in the SLR Lounge iPhone Photo Shoot.
However, we will be using a legit camera this time. This time we will be using our 5D Mark II along with a 50mm 1.4 Prime Lens. But, trust me that you can pretty much get these exact same shots with virtually any DSLR body with a 50mm 1.4 Prime Lens attached. Below the video, we have listed out all of the equipment and software used to create these shots. So be sure to check that out as well.
Enjoy, and as always, let us know what you think!

instead of using the reflectors, can one use a on flash diffuser to get the same results?
iam used for canon 1300d lights
Thank you for the video. I'm no pro but your skies are blown out
Much appreciate
I liked the last shot best. Nice video, thanks.
Does someone know what Camera and lens that is. I can't tell
thumbs down for the fucking flip-flops, tool
All I was wondering was is Jessica going to get blown away? Great shots and the reflectors certainly opened them up, but wouldn't gold have made them warmer for outdoor shooting.
Is that the 405 and kaiser in the background?
What size are the reflectors?
You need to put images along each other, you cannot really compare if there is 2 sec video in between
Why do you edit it if you are trying to show before and after pictures, the only thing that you are showing is that you can edit.
Very informative but why do the lightroom edited photos look better (to me) than the Photoshop ones?
This was super helpful! Thank you!
Great tips and lovely photos – thanks for sharing… 🙂
Thanks! Very helpful! Super excited to use my reflector this evening! 🙂
thanks for the sharing the knowledge, but it'll be nice without editing the photos just to able to differentiate the photos easily.
magic
Thanks for the video!!!
Could please show your Lightroom and Photoshop edit. Many thanks.
I found this really helpful. Than you
The only negative thing about reflectors is that you always need to have an assistant
Where would the reflectirs be purchased?
Here you have before & after photos for easy compare…
1st-pic 2:33|2:38 2nd-pic 3:17|3:31 3rd-pic 4:25|4:33 4th-pic 5:12|5:18 5th-pic 5:56|6:13

Nice
Excuse me. Useful lesson and technical know how good speaker but you are not creative photographer, your pictures are very weak lacks of configurations and angles and you're in an unfortunate choice were not the lens is a lens that excel in portraying PORTRAIT Excuse
Great Tutorial
By insulting me you just proved what I thought. You are a rude graphic designer! I will end this conversation here. It is not worth it to argue with someone who is unable to use his brain to construct convincing arguments. Good luck in your graphic designing career! One last thing, YOU ARE NOT A PHOTOGRAPHER!
Short and sweet. Thanks for the tutorial.
nice use of reflectors.
Nice. Location?
Great tutorial! Thanks!
Great video! It would definitely be more helpful if you put both the before/after pictures right next to each other for easier comparison:)
shallow DOF with focus & recompose? how?
ohh am getting a reflector tomorrow!
Awesome tutorial video my man!!
Why is there such a deference between you Photoshop and Lightroom Edit? They should be pretty similar.
would you rather use a flash if you have one? just wondering as to when a flash would be better vs a reflector. thanks!
Good video. However, you got two things wrong: 1. There is no such thing as a ¨professional camera¨. Without the photographe, even the most expensive camera is nothing but a piece of junk. 2. You forgot to mention that post processing is for people who do not know how to use light. Therefore, for bad ¨photographers¨.
What size reflector is this?
fook to much talk, do the action..
Thanks, nice! May be the pre-post comparison should be shown more often and you can leave out the PS/LR edits altogether, nobody cares, it's about learning the lighting and not post-processing. A friendly tip: you should definitely shoot Jessica and the tattooed Yoko should assist you – the pictures would look really much better :o)!
good job thanks for more info
Good work, though….
It's "lying down", not "laying down".
