I just started with this software there's no help menu on top.I had a bad photo download on a file from my hard drive, Anyone out there how do you delete a file or a photo, Help
One of the more useful tutorials on Darktable. Great job!
Superb video. Thanks!
I want to thank you for taking the time to teach this software. I marvel at what it can do. However, I find the software is not user friendly so it takes painstaking attention to detail through instruction while taking notes and screenshots. It would have taken me weeks to advance as much as I have by listening to you today. Much appreciation.
Thanks Shane. Just getting started with Darktable and really found your video helpful!
Thanks Shane and well done, I am new at DT coming from LR.
Question my DT screen is bigger than normal and I have tried to fit it right but I could not make it.
Do you know why and how to do it please?
Very helpful tutorial, thanks!
Can you do photo stacking on Darktable. Also can you do layers when editing, does it have any special effects you can add and what about adding text too, thanks.
Thanks
Are you suggesting Digikam and Darktable work together? Do I just store all photo files in a directory structure that both programs see? Then crop, edit, and export from Darktable while using Digikam as the tagging, & facial recognition software? I'm shooting with a Sony A7, in ARW, changing from Apple Photos. Perhaps you have already provide some workflow instructions I haven't found, perhaps you would direct me where to find best practices.
Not helpful; you assume a lot of prior knowledge. Where can I learn REAL basics! I have no idea what you're talking about and can't find the things you're indicating to try to work them out. Not helpful!
Nice video.
What am I doing wrong? When I select a folder to import I can not drill down to subfolders to get to the folder I want. I am using Ubuntu 18.04. My workaround is to add the folder to favorites which allows me to open the subfolder to import.
Also, I'd like to know why there is a filmstrip in the Lighttable tab but I can't move to another image by selected the next image. I have to leave lighttable, go to darkroom tab and select an image from there. What is the purpose of the filmstrip?
hi, thanks for video. i am trying to seargh videos of printing with darktable. i cant really find. and you know… for beginner like me.. even i can not find printing option from the program. so if you could make an video.. please tell, where to find even printing option. thanks
I cant see those tiny fonts. Having a very hard time with naming the files, any way to increase font size?
Shane, when u shoot raw, what input color profile do you choose? sRGB or standard? Im messing with color profiles. Thanks.
shane, thanks. i use mint 18.3 "sylvia" currently and would like to start using DT or Raw Therapee , using gimp as an editor. how much facility with terminal do i need in order to be effective at photo editing. i have been watching your videos and note the liberal and effortless use of terminal. my only experience with terminal has been to copy/paste to optimize ssd after building a desktop. thanks.
Thanks for the video! I'm new to photography and photo processing is quite overwhelming. Because I can't afford to fork out the money for the big name software, I went looking for open source and am happy I found Darktable and Gimp. I'm just not sure exactly how they differ, whether to use one or the other, or why a lot of folks seem to begin in Darktable and then transition to Gimp. I look forward to more help like you offer up in this video. You make this really accessible and easy to follow.
Thanks so much for this video. This helped me so much getting started with darktable AND getting back into photography and raw editing in general. How much do you know about denoising? I have a pretty old dslr which of course isn't the best at low light shoots. There are several tools for denoising in darktable and I am confused about which one to use and how to use them. Maybe you could include a quick tutorial about that in your text video?
And thanks again. Much appreciated.
Amazing Shane, thank you! This is just the kind of information I was looking for. I am just beginning to explore editing and using RAW. Much appreciated.
Very well done. Thank you.
hi under base curve i shoot with a canon 5d mark 3 i do not see it under the present list how do i add it ? thanks cosmo
I've learned a lot, especially about Lighttable. Thanks.
Terrific Video, Keep up the good work!
That helped quite a bit.
Thank you very much for the tutorial Shane.
Great tutorial!
