Quick answer to you all that have the latest version of blender 2.8 and when going to wireframe the image disappears.
Choose the camera go to her settings and there is a DEPTH setting which is originaly set at back.Change this to front and you are good to go.EDIT:If it looks like ghosted or translucent play with the alpha slider 😀

Great Tutorial! Just one problem whenever i enter wireframe mode the picture is no longer visible .. i can only see it in solid mode :/ any solution?
when i import the fspy file the image doesnt show up in the background but the camera does align. any idea why?
