In this tutorial I will show you how to add wind to the scene and make a high resolution 3D simulation of a flag waving in the wind in Blender. We will use the Cycles render to render the flag, add simple lighting and a simple blue background. This is a beginner tutorial so the focus will primarily be on the flag and the simulation and not so much on making the perfect lighting and surroundings.
The way I make tutorials is to add explanations to most actions so that you can easily switch back and forth between Blender and Youtube when you watch.

I post 3 tutorials every single week and I have plans to go into space, Sci-Fi and vehicles more in the future.
I do my best to improve and make better tutorials, so constructive criticism is much welcomed.

Thanks so much for this perfect tutorial to the world.
The best tutorial I have ever heard so far. And I am brand new to Blender! Simple, precise, patient, and you don't miss a step. What a effective learning experience! Question:How do I make this animate longer to about 15- seconds? (without looping?) Meaning, how do I increase the animation time on the blender time line just before I render, just before I go to animate?
Thank you.A very useful tutorial.
how the hell do you even look around the 3d stuff in the first place? I try to left click and go around with my mouse and it doesn't even do it
Hi, as a Blender newbie, I have of the many similar tutorials found yours to be the best guidance for animating a flag. Right now, the animation process is taking place, though I underestimated how long it takes. How, though can one do the SAME but with a transparent background? Also is there any way to transfer the .blend file so one can animate it on a SEPARATE PC? An attempt gives me a merely purple flag, not the one with the correct colors. Thx
