I asked my students their thoughts of my Maya 3d Modeling course in my live QnAs. The students shared some insights on their 3d modeling backgrounds, difficulties with 3d modeling and highlighted ways that my 3d modeling course has been helping the learn.

I hold weekly QnAs with my students each week throughout the 10 week course. I take any questions they have and review their works.

  1. I bought the on-demand version of this course. I can't express myself properly how awesome it is. I have been doing 3d modeling for years and in this course I got the solution for all my earlier mistakes. Other tutorials showed me to do this ant that step by step. But in this course I UNDERSTAND WHY we are doing it. I understood topology, structural edges, support edges, edge flow and so on…

And I can migrate my knowledge to any 3d applications. Take that: I am doing the tutorials in Cinema 4d. 🙂

I wish this course came out earlier. Years earlier… for about 5 or 10… 😀

  2. Almost $700 for you teach me how to model a simplistic bike? Dude. Stop ripping these people off. Your course only briefly touches on the techniques required in order to make it as a 3d modeler. The bike looks interesting from afar, but up close it has very few details and not very complex shapes. It has clean topology, but that's about it. Stop this borderline scam and stop selling false hopes. Nobody is going to "master hard surface modeling" by modeling a simple bike and there are tons of more in depth courses on modeling at a fraction of what you charge and even free. I feel sorry for all the beginners that fall for your clever marketing and catchy phrases. You want to really learn modeling, try Arrimus3D on Youtube. Try Michael Pavlovich. Those are real teachers. JL is cool, but do you want to be "a beast" or capable of working in production as a 3d artist?

  3. Do we REALLY need that background music, which makes the speech so difficult to hear — when the audio in speech, in most cases, is already so low-quality that it's difficult to hear. (Super annoying!) Jesus, effin', christ.. I'd love to be able to listen to this WITHOUT THE MUSIC.

  4. Very cool to hear other people feel the same way! I was an instant subscriber to your channel because, as one of the people in the video said, you explain the "Why" of doing a process in addition to the "How" of a process. I've gone through so many other people's tutorials that just say "click here, now click this tool" and I've come away with no foundation to apply those tools to other areas. But after watching just one of your videos, you've been able to instill powerful concepts that I still apply to my 3D modeling in every scenario! Kudos to the success of your 3D class!

  5. hi Jl muss can i ask u whats a good system mac or pc for $1300-1500 for heavmodeling in z brush mainly toy action making purposes. if you can drop a link or point me in the right direction it would be a great help. thank you

  6. Question: If I sign up for this course, will that qualify me for a student license of Maya, or will I have to purchase an indie license? Alternatively, can the course be done in Blender?
