This is the first part of Episode 1 in my Landscape photography tries series. In this episode I try wildlife photography in a hide with @Morten Hilmer. We had a fantastic morning, a great fireside chat and were lucky to capture some memorable moments.

Such a nice video Nigel. It really recalls some good memories – especially from the blind. That morning was magic. I'm so happy the birds decided to come and I really like your photos. Looking so much forward to part II – that was a really exciting and cozy morning👍 by the way the 3D camouflage really suits you 😉😂
I’m a beginner wildlife photographer so this was so fun to watch – you got some really great shots!
Need more context and less talking show more pictures!!
I really enjoy your videos Nigel. Well edited, engaging and perfectly shot. You have a pleasant broadcasting voice, and mesmerising eyes. Have a great Christmas, and all the best for 2020
wow that's Amazing video ..thank you both of you
Two photographers so passionate they almost can't even speak. We need more of this, your energy is contagious. Thanks for sharing, Nigel!
To me, the raven photo triggered my curiosity.
At first I saw, as you said Nigel, a shadow. Then my mind turned it into actual raven.
After that, my mind started picturing what the rest of the raven could look like, taking into account the weather. The wind ruffling the feathers, what posture the rest of the bird has and so on. Then the questions, why is it sitting there? Is there food on the ground? Is it scouting for something? What is it looking at?
My mind only needs a little hint in the form of a silhouette, and my imagination is free to build a whole world around it, with even sounds and smells.
That's what happens in my mind when I look at photos that leave a lot to the imagination.
Really good video, Nigel and Morten! Thanks
Nigel is EXTREMELY inspirational!! His advice and techniques have helped me come out of my comfort zone to start my own Photography channel and as a new creator and beginner Photographer. As a combat veteran, Nigel and his videos have brought me a purpose in film and Photography. Please check out my channel and subscribe. Peace.
I loved that
Hey Nigel. Just watched this latest episode and subscribed. I was watching Nick Pages' interview with you and jumped over to check out your channel and I am glad I did. Great work with Morten, I love his work and I look forward to watching more of your videos.
Wow ! Morten and Nigel in same video, I can't believe this. Both are my favorite. Unfortunately YouTube doesn't allow me to give more than one Like (:
Mr. Hilmer described the morning feeling perfectly. As the sun comes up and lights the area it burns off the magic. I knew and felt exactly that; as if I was in the woods at that very moment. It's great to see you branch out. Thank you for video!
Absolutely A great Episode , Thank you Very much !!
Simply beautiful.
Outstanding!
Enjoyed the interview. Your emotion and joy was palpable when you got your first photo in the blind. Spoke volumes. It showed up in the final picture; joy.
I so enjoyed this video Nigel. Thank you for making it. For me it highlighted the value of the emotional connection between the photographer and the subject, whatever that subject happens to be, and how that in turn promotes an emotional response from the viewer. It also highlighted the value of trying something different, which offers a chance to apply existing skills, but also to learn new skills which push us photographically and broaden our skills. Also that sense of being at one with your camera is so important. It made me think of the times when I used to rock climb and on a good day you could flow up a piece of rock because you are at one with it. So too when you set out to make a photograph – if you are at one with your camera and your subject, it is hard not to make a good photograph.
Nice video Nigel, I am looking forward to more of this series, a great idea. WOW, Mortens Raven photo what a masterpiece.
Hi everyone ive just started a new channel if you could help me to grow it would be a nice xmas treat thanks Kyle
Really enjoyed this one Nigel, thanks for sharing, some good advice from both of you.
Amazing video of two professional photographers working together. Your photos were amazing Nigel, as Morten once said, to photograph birds the best results can only be achieved from a hide, wandering around the woodland hand held photography just doesn’t create the best images. Thanks for this wonderful video, looking forward to part II.
Nigel when it collab to an Astro collab the Breacon based photographer Alyn Wallace must be way up the list, top bloke and amazing images.
Wonderful, really enjoyed that. Thank you.
Love this! For me, nature photography is about trying to capture some of the character of the subject, that's what lifts them from just portraits into something better.
Nice video!! I was wondering one thing while watching though.. How did you know the birds were going to land exactly there and not elsewhere?
Beautiful morning Nigel, Morten is a truly talented photographer you are learning from the best. I have always loved wildlife and nature so thank you for this treat…
Really enjoyed this. 2 of the best photography channels on YouTube chatting about their passion and sharing loads of good tips etc. Thanks for making! Very inspiring.
Start a podcast! That seems super good to me👍🏼 great video!
Grrrrrreat conversations!! and stunning pictures 👍
A tip for focus with the Z cameras and wildlife. Sometimes the wildlife is hard to get into focus with the Z cameras but I found if you get close with AF-ON, hold AF-ON and turn the focus ring it will show you what's in focus. The camera will usually snap *close* when AF-ON is pressed so this is nice to just make sure you really nail the focus. Also helpful when wildlife is behind things such as grass and the AF has a hard time grabbing the subject.
Photographing birds is not the same as photographing mountain lions. Call it bird photography, not wildlife.
Brilliant video, Nigel! What an epic team-up with you and Morten!
Great video Nigel and really just reiterates the sense of journey and adventure that most of get from photography 👌
Awesome series idea?!?! Can't wait to learn from all the different types of photographers and what inspires them to master their craft!!!… =) #thank #you
Super.
I have been enjoying your videos, and you inspire me to get out and try to find photographs and not just a snapshot. I think your "tries" will give me many more inspirations and a few tips along the way. Keep up the great work and content.
Fabulous
Wow thats Amazing Video. The Photograph you taken is Looking so Beautiful and Story telling.
Waiting to Watch your next Video.
Great video. I look forward to more of these. Well done.
What a great video Nigel! I am so excited to see more in this series! I love Morten's work too!
Watch out for those out of focus strands of grass in front of your subject…Hahaha!
Fabulous!
