This is great. Re: people complaining that he's teaching people to be derivative. That's how you learn art. My first couple years as a comedian were spent basically doing other people's essences. Then you figure out why their style works: cadence, presentation, etc. and you take that and morph into your own thing through an amalgam elements you liked from diff influences.

You have to learn how things work before you can make your own style and this is a good way. Also what style could someone come up with that someone hasn't already done in some form. You're all hacks, sorry. You were born too late.

My question is why would you raise whites or whatever element in lighting section but then crush them in the curve? Genuinely asking. I suck at checking youtube but hopefully I'll see it!

I'm editing a shoot right now, and your video is really helping me get the right skin tones! Best Lightroom tutorial for me and I've watched a lot! This one more fits my style. I'll of course put my own spin to it, but now I've got a good foundation. Thx!

Do you think it's really important to have a specific style to all your photos? I love looking at those instagram feeds where all the photos have the same mood and editing, my I don't like to do that myself… I really like to vary a lot.

A little quick tip for choosing colors for split toning:
hold ALT-key while choosing the color. So you dont have to bump up saturation first 😉
