one thing you need to add is to lock up your mirror to reduce camera shake, and yes use a remote and you will get amazing images. Lenses are your best investment, NOT the CAMERA 😉 happy shooting
I love the stories and I really enjoyed the video. Your photos are beautiful, thanks for sharing!
Great video. How do you get your picture so sharp in low light?I use low iso/long exposere set focus and f8 to f22 but mine aint so sharp.
Do you use long exposure noise reduction when shooting in raw?
Really enjoyed the video Michael, thank you!
I found your sight and subscribed instantly great info for shooting night it’s my struggle taking good photography at night . I’m still learning taking good shots especially at night time activities that I wanna capture so bad . I would like to ask you I have nikon d750 what would be a good lens for night portrait?
How do you determine the exposure settings?
Wow I can't remember the last time I watched a video to the very end! Thanks this vid was refreshing and the pics are beautiful!! Also has two of my fav things……photography and ghosts lololol I so wish you would have taken a video of your escape from the ghosts lol
If you buy a Lumix you just need to download the free app and your phone can act as a remote and/or give GPS data to your pictures without the extra money spent on another gadget. Just saying. And if you have a mirrorless camera you don't need to lock up your mirror to reduce camera shake among other positive benefits.
wow. loving your channel. i just got a slightly used canon 70d after using my phone lol. i will take your advice on your favorite lens and givr night photography a shot 🙂 thanks for your tips
Cool Scenes! I've ordered a Mirrorless Cam W/ APS-C sensor, my first bigger than 6.17X 4.55mm! Even those Panasonic's w/the tiny sensor can capture great views- no RAW option available. Can't wait for that slow boat from China to arrive w/the 13X larger sensor to so I can try my hand at the darker side of life. "Not all who wander are lost".
i still believe that getting a nikon lens 28mm for less than 100 US is way misleading … well, yes, you can get one, but all beat-up, scratched, hazed, etc…
amazing video!! thx for making this tutorial
thanks for the tips! as a newbie like the details! nice story tho about the cabins !
Hi Michael. I came upon your sight by pure accident and how lucky was to land here. I must say how refreshing it is to hear someone explain in detail and with so much passion their exploits into night photography. I subscribed emideately after the first video and am looking forward to viewing lotsmore of your adventures in the future. I would like to suggest a lens for you to tryout. The Nikon 14×24 f2.8 lens, it's probably the best wide angle lens that Nikon has ever produced.
Kindest regards.
Mike.Irish.
PS. I am also a member of lonely speck and would encourage others to become a member.
I got a lot of useful tips out of this video. We are just learning. I had no idea about that infinity focus on the lens. Most of my lenses don't have that but I just bought a long lens and I see it on there. Nor that my camera was not full frame (Nikon D5100). You inspire me to get off my ass and travel and see the world to follow what I have finally found to be a passion of mine. Thanks so much
How did you make the tent glow in the dark? I shined the headlamp upwards and only the top of the tent was shined
Great tutorial 🙂 I just bought SL2 it’s my 1st DSLR so want to improve my skills and you give some good tips new subscriber 🙂 I like how you give example and what settings you used really practical for begginers as I can screenshot and look up later and use on camera and see each example what it’s for 🙂
Great video!
Question, never tried this, do the Nikon lens interchange (the ones on this video) with a Canon 5d MK 2 ?
Good work Michael, love the story on the mining spots, cold air, 🙂
Love the video’ the best around for sure
night photography is the hardest to capture
How do you determine the length of the shutter? Do you have another vid or chart
Any tips for night time time lapse? does the long exposure time affect the fps rate to render a smooth time lapse?
Awesome video! Thanks for making it.
