In this tutorial I demonstrate how to build a low polygon hand control cage that can be shaped and smoothed later to create a detailed photoreal hand model in Autodesk Maya 2012.

Out of all of the 3D tutorials I have seen, yours has been the most clear. You really take the time to go over everything you are doing and why you are doing it. It really helps. I subscribed and I can't wait to watch more of your videos! 🙂
i just love the way you teach us most of the things small things. great job i will recommend this video if someone wants to learn hand modelling.
great tutorial really helped me!
what did he do on @18.10 ????
Thank you so much you have no idea how much I appreciated this tutorial! You've made college a hell lot easier!

For the thumb, you should use wedge instead of extrude, it saves a little time.
Wow this guide is perfect for me!
looks at the video length
fuuuuuuuuu
Thank's Mr
Geat tut but what's going on with the loud keyboard?
Great tut! could you do a right topology arm modeling tutorial please? 😀
Found this part o the tutorial nice but the second part is so retarded. The reference image is out an really doesn't match up, and you skip over the making of the detail needed for the hand so in the second part you are screwed. i have done tutorials that take 30 minutes which cover more information and have the final out come as your final product. I would recommend to everyone to find a diff tut this one will screw you in the end =
huhh very nice tutorial! thanx a lot! nuff respect!
I had the same problem with the edges going haywire when I changed the height subdivisions on the beginning finger, just make a new one and set the settings before it is even made in the options box
Very detailed tuto thnx 🙂
1:21:17 of magic!
fantastic video.
Thanks!
I wouldn't really classify that as low poly, looks more like it suited for movie stuff that video game stuff
very detailed video. nice one.
whenever i create the cylinder for the finger, and then change the subdivision height, my edges end up all messed up and uneven. How can I fix this? Someone please help me out?
this has been so helpful to me this video.. you explain it all very well 🙂 thanks
Character modeling is something I'm never gonna be good at.

Max is better for modeling, maya for animation, but both are awesome at animation and modeling, it's really preference.
