Maya: Soft Shadows [Directional Light, Arnold]

There was a subscriber question which I’m happy to answer, because it’s a question many of us have: How do we make the harsh shadow of a parallel light soft? The parallel light in Maya is called Directional Light, because only the direction, not the position matters.
