Mech Concept Design – 3D Modeling Process in Maya & Zbrush

Started off with a basemesh in zbrush, created some kit pieces in maya and then instanced them on the basemesh geo using MASH. Render was in Redshift with no-UV materials and round corners. This represents rough concept art that can be refined and made more functional looking and less cluttered. Comped in nuke.

The modeling process is continued here where I refine and clean the design: https://youtu.be/8akHN3PouEY

  1. Amazing and creative. I loved it up to the final creation of the last of the little parts. I thought they were going to be the complex foot assembly or maybe the hands. Then it was kind of a letdown to see all that great detail work go into clunking up the face and head like it was a magnet to them. Still, different strokes, etc. Very interesting to watch nevertheless. Thank you.
