"There are two types of joins.""

Incorrect. There are more than two types of joins. High school SQL student?

Um, you really didn't explain Joins, you never mentioned Primary keys or foreign keys.

PHP and MySQL for Dynamic Web Sites is an amazing book for learning web development with websites that require databases. If you are not interested in the web development, you can try a strictly MySQL dedicated book (I do not have any recent ones to recommend, but Larry Ullman's MySQL book is good for learning the basics taught here).
