  1. Really great ideas and video Pete! The only part to take in consideration that could help the composition to be credible is to thing about it on shooting, which one you want it to be on focus then you decide how and where is going to be the depth of field then you mark it and place the object on that space you prepared before, it will help you to create a better proportion. Being super picky you can see the main ring being on focus but proportionally not in the space it should be in relation to the glass and some other parts from the plain shot, that are on focus. This may help some 🙂

  2. I am a hobby photographer, but I feel like it would have made it more realistic if you had used manual focus and focussed on the Ring in the front and just taken the others with the focus in the same way. Your depth of field explanation on the ring didn't seen to be right to me 😂 just my thought though, good work 😊

  3. @4:53 ok now we can DEFINITELY be friends! I spotted the Lagavulin 16 and that is undoubtably one of my favourite single malts I've ever had the pleasure of finishing – the Oban 14 is a great dram too! Great video Peter.

  4. I wish I could spend a day with you while you do these types of shoots, or any shoots for that matter. And then randomly talk about things over coffee or something cold since it's hot as hell here haha. Thanks for sharing this! If you ever come to Vegas again that would be dope! Hope to meet you one day! -Meg

  5. How I like your style this misunderstanding of depth of field makes me question your expertise. At 7:33 there is the relation of focus area for the front ring that your looking for. Focus on the table is below the ring, not behing! You describe how you blurred just the part of ring that is correspondent with the sliver of focus of the background but that's just novice Photoshop mistake, because they are not the same distance from the camera lens.
Also could've kept the focal point of the camera at the same point for all shots at least to see how massive would the blur be for the position of the 2nd and 3rd ring (even when using focused shots for the makeup afterwards). Which brings us to the conclusion that in order to be famous, you obviously don't need physics 😃
