  1. Well some of you had a good time bashing Daniel. However, as long as I've been doing this, when he talked about "the clouds above us", and I visualized it like a huge soft box instead of a wrap around umbrella, it clicked. It always seemed like light was coming from all directions when it's overcast. But now I realize that's not true. I had a family portrait shoot immediately following watching the video, which is why I searched for "overcast photograph". I already knew most of what the place we were going to had to offer. We went right for the edge of some woods, facing out to the sun that was about 2 hours from setting behind a thin overcast. BAM! Perfect light. There was actually one place with a "tunnel" where the trees were grown over a dirt farm road. We placed a little 7 year old in there setting cross ways, but facing into the light. Beautiful.
Even if you disagree with somebody posting a video about how to do something, you don't have to be hateful. There's plenty of that around. He made the effort and isn't getting rich from it. Cut some slack.

  2. I think she’s a good model… you don’t always have to smile to look good… look at her even when she’s not smiling, she still looks pretty… and thanks for the good info on taking portrait on a gloomy day. I’m about to do this with my sissy in law

  3. Strange how everyone complains about the model. I had the opposite feeling. He should have at least introduced her and and been a bit more pleasant to her. She this and she that… Back up, back up, back up. I wouldn't feel so nice as a model…
