cool thx you.
You are awesome.thanks
Quick question. @5:16, your translate(move) the knee bone/joint forward in the "Y", I believe it was "Y", however, shouldn't you rotate the hip to position the knee bone? I know in Maya Rigging, you should never move bones unless it's moving along the "down" axis, or the axis that is lined to go down the chain, in Maya it's the "Z" axis, usually. Otherwise, it breaks the joint as you were mentioning earlier with the "roll"rotation setting.
I have a problem. When I select rig, not all the controls are selected. This makes it not possible to go to the next step.
Thanks!
Thumb up.
I've used this tool but never had such a good explanation for some of the stuff and problems I've had.
Excellent tutorial. You've really helped me out. My question is, what do I do with the metarig that you pushed to the left after generating the rig. Can I delete it, and if so, are there any repecursions to it.
Dude when i roll my hip joint to match my character, the generated rig bends the knee in the wrong direction, Ive been following your video point for point – perhaps i shld scale down my model rather than scale up the rig?
Can you delete the armature that you created earlier?
Hello i know this video is old but…I cant find the rig layers
Rigify…wow its powerful
Not that quick, huh?
Thank you for this tutorial, I'm about a quarter of the way through. I was just curious however, at 4:08 you mention that you must not move individual joints around due to the rolls, but then go on to move an individual joint?
Great vid, although, when I followed this, step by step, I still had the issue of not being able to manipulate the rig, with the mesh following along.
I deleted unnecessary bones like the face rig and the ends of the fingers, and the rig refuses to generate. Were those required to generate the rig, or is there a way to fix this?
There is a more recent 1 hour long tutorial on this, but this is enough information to do it with the most recent version of blender.
I was having problems with my rig and you save me! thanks CGC!
wow i cant wait to do this
but first i have to create my complete character mesh 😀
this is a great tutorial.thank you bro.
Im still amazed that people call "quick" and easy to rig with rigify lol. Its the most stupid and complicated mess ive ever seen. Honestly it is not worthy the trouble.
where is download link
I love you. (No gay.)
For some reason, the finger scaling thingy is not default any more. To get it back, select the base bone of each finger, go to the bone panel on the right, and then, under "Rigify type", change it from "limbs.simple_tentacle" to "limbs.super_finger". Now, when the rig is generated, the scaling thingies should show up.
19:18 "I can't imagine how complex it would be to include [face controls] in rigify
Blender: Includes face controls in rigify
You can add your own bones to the rigify skeleton right? just need to parent it to the correct, pre-existing bone from the rigify skeleton? i wanted to use the rigify skeleton and add some extra bones for the toes too.
Does the fingers have an ik, like to have it fisted position without moving the each finger joints?
14:09 hello here is my problem i click on generate but it generate onle the 4 arrows and on the outliner nothing appears only a rig

I am attempting to customize my meta-rig to fit my bi-ped character. I need to subdivide his shin bone, but when I attempt to generate the rig it gives me an error. I am sure it is due to the script not including the additional bone that I subdivided. If anyone knows of a way that I can work around this issue please share with me. I have included the screen shot of my character's leg, where it has the special circumstance. I am not that great at coding, so I am seeking a solution that has minimal coding involved. Thanks,
many of the dots aren't visible in the other layers and when i try to un hide what I hid earlier, Cnrtl Alt H isnt makeing them show up ? and the skeleton isn't green at all when I select it.
Can it be done on Windows????
