Take Better Control of Your Photoshop Edits Using These Layer Mask Techniques

[ad_1]

Photoshop is a tremendously complicated and intricate application, and for any one task, there are often three or four methods to get the results you want. One of the most fundamental skills you will need is the ability to work with layer masks effectively, and this fantastic video tutorial will show you three ways to use layer mask density to take better control of your editing.

Coming to you from Greg Benz Photography, this great video tutorial will show you how to use layer mask density to take better control of your edits in Photoshop. Often, when you use a layer mask, you do not want it to simply be a binary black and white application where the effect is either 100% there or not at all. Being able to gradually reduce the opacity of the mask can create much more convincing blends or create effects like sunlight shining across the frame. And while you can do this with the brush tool set to a soft hardness, as you will see in the video, there is often a much quicker way to go about it using something like the gradient tool. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Benz.
