Today I take on a different approach to landscape photography with the mindset of staying in the present and soaking up the wonderfully tranquil surroundings. Outdoor photography during a blue sky day can be very challenging. Today I share a few tips to help you enjoy your photography on beautiful days such as this.

Great Work Ian-very helpful
Hi, I love your images, what a remarkable video. I admire the story too. It will be superb if you mulled over my channel to see if you rate any of my videos. Keep up the good work! I look forward to your next video.
Do you ever shoot raw files, lots of info there.
Thanks Ian! Great views of the area!!
Hi Ian on your 1st shot you said you had a Circular Polariser but the vid showed you sliding what looked like a graduated filter on front, was it both?
Really like the Provia profile. Reminds me of a time long ago walking in the woods carrying my Mamiya 645 and "shooting" Provia transparencies. Good times…
Great video Ian , love going to the peaks for photography/vlogs. Keep up the good work. Gem 👍🏻
I agree with all of this and some lovely shots. I need to use my 55-200 more for landscapes.
I don’t focus stack or bracket. I do shoot RAW & JPEG, sometimes being happy with just the image from camera. with limited time to get out and take shots I’d rather not be sat in front of my computer spending too long in post processing. Great work again.
Just to make the point, digital imaging is not like film photography at all. Don't misunderstand me, what I do now is digital imaging but I also used to shoot film back in the day and the differences are huge, the concept of both is totally different. PS there is post processing even when shooting jpeg, it's just that it's done automatically in the camera, or rather it's done in the camera with the user chosen settings! I do agree though this video should make us all think about exactly how we create our images and we should shoot to please ourselves first !
Thank you Ian…I love your relaxed approach and detailed explanation of how you take and compose an image….technology is amazing, but I like very much how you took this back to basics ! … brill 👍
That was a really cool vid Ian – I enjoy how you explain your work flow greatly – very helpful. I also like the the move away from post processing and just shooting it as it is – its the essence of photography I reckon.
Nice video Ian. I've stopped giving myself too much to do in post now as I can often be put off even processing them if I know it's going to be a ball ache. I tend to look for stuff which I know will be simpler and I think has had a positive effect on my images. I will still focus stack and blend if I know the final image will be worth the effort on occasion but I've broken the habit of over doing it. Some lovely light in your shots, have to love Fuji jpegs.
Had the XT-2 for a while now and have decided (purely personal opinion) that as now classed a ancient), have done this jpeg tryout in B&W using the inbuilt filters – red mostly on storm clouds and beach, have come to the conclusion similar to yours Ian. Thanks for the lovely stroll through my favourite National Park – and I didn't get out of breath once:}
Great video Ian, enjoyed watching it. Thanks for sharing, top work mate.
Nice idea. Do you fancy meeting g up. I like the idea of hooking up with people that enjoy the same as me but who does it all different. Your slow approach and my fast approach
Another cracking piece of video Ian , the Fuji x-t2 really allows you to give the thumbs down to post processing , all you really need is a little tweak here and there ie shadows and highlights and when composed correctly you can achieve some great organic images, thanks again Ian 👍
Thank you for telling how you look at those shots.
Hi Ian great video, good to set challenges… I don't own grads so to get sky and foreground I usually need a little bit of work in post… you done a great job with your challenge 😀👍
Thanks Ian…that’s given me an excellent objective for next week. By the way what is your tripod head? Cheers
I am not a lover of blue skies but when the light is softer at this time of the year it can be a great day out…. my go to is shooting mono on blue sky days but in this case I think your choice of colour was right… I preferred the 1st image to the 2nd Ian. Wonderful b -roll in your image and was intrigued at the bit with the pan around 6.15 – drone work? Enjoyable watch as always.
Great thought on shooting.
Great work Ian
I like your stuff but I've never ever focus stacked or HDR'd. And I never intend to. It's called photography, not photosgraphy. Each to their own.
Nice images, and an interesting exercise, not a million miles away from shooting film. Which would also be interesting. Cheers 👍
Nice vid as always Ian! The second shot is my favorite. I'd bookmark that location as I think that shout would rock with some mist or fog!
Another great video Ian, ive seen quite a lot of people both on and offline doing exactly the same thing recently, me being one of them. In my case i got sick of bracketing pretty much every shot so ive gone back to trying to capture single images, i think daytime shooting helps too when there is less contrast.
Perhaps you could go even more simple and stick a prime lens on:) the 23 f2 is spending a lot of time on my camera these days.
Lovely day out for walking around – some nice images as well. Thanks for sharing your experience, expertise and artistry!
Magnífico video Ian.
Gracias por mostrarnos tu fantástico trabajo.
Loved the video Ian. Very interesting approach to Landscape Photography and surely one I'll definitely try and suggest on my own workshops. Thanks for sharing mate. Happy Holidays.
