  1. I saved a free Batman model from CGTrader which looks amazing, I downloaded the Obj file and imported to blender.
    https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-models/character/man/lego-batman-d56fdab4-2b8b-4aeb-9c97-a3e98b259a14
The model comes as twelve separate pieces, when I group select (using 'B'), the whole thing is surrounded by a blue bounding line. In edit mode, the left leg is highlighted as a wire mesh and the rest of the model is still surrounded by a blue line. This is where the tutorial stalled for me. (because of my own inexperience).

My question is this if I may, do I need to select each separate piece of the model and apply the techniques of your tutorial, or is there a way to select all objects and have a yellow line bounding them as a group. Your creeper seems to be made of six objects but is using one single image to wrap around the entire model. I assume some textures came with the object file (I haven't seen the chest image or the animated face image, or any material textures for the cape etc, but assume they will present themselves xD).

Anyway, any help you could offer would be very much appreciated good Sir. Thank you very much for the tutorial.

  2. Blenders number one issue is its nasty a$$ UI. I have been in the 3d game since the 90's, Maya,3D Studio, AutoShade etc. Blender said, screw the ui formula, just put #$%% anywhere… Then, make them use a shortcut instead… Think about it, all the Applications with the worse UI all but when away, AutoShade,Bryce,Poser… This is blenders problem. And I know its free, don't care.

  3. very useful, thank you. now i have to do the same thing for B2.8 which is just into beta today! i shall now go and look to see whether you also have some more advanced UV mapping tutorials along with material assignment, etc.

  4. These are great tutorials. Clear and straight to the point. As a developer who sometimes has to create placeholder models until an artist is available, I find Blender very powerful but not at all intuitive. Your tutorials have really helped.

  5. Someday, we will just talk to the computer like in Star Trek and say "Computer, I want to add a texture to this model". It will say "Working, rendering, complete" and you just look at it. But what happens when it says "I am tired, and my transistors are too hot. I need to turn off for a while". Then we need to learn all the steps in Blender again.

  6. This has been helpful but at 15:03 were you demonstrate how to place an image texture in the uv editor i have a problem were my computer has an error saying that it cannot read the png and that there's no such file or directory. Can some one help me with this?
