I’m doing some testing of the upcoming Eevee viewport for Blender 2.8, which is currently in development.

I’ve been waiting for the blender developers to finish up the job with porting the modifiers to Blender 2.8 so that I could test an animated scene. The sequence was rendered in Blender 2.8’s new realtime viewport EEVEE. Comp was done in Blender 2.79

The tree creature was rigged and animated in Blender 2.79 with the addons rigify and jiggle armature. After that I just brought it into blender 2.8 and it works fine as long as the control shapes of the rig are extruded meshes, otherwise they are not visible in the viewport. In this test I’m both using a rig with baked animation, but also a keyframe rig. The animation is a looped sequence of 10 seconds, rendered with 4 different cameras. Totally 1000 frames was rendered.

The creature was sculpted in Zbrush and the textures were done in Substance Designer and Substance Painter.

The voice actor in this video is my oldest daughter 🙂

Blender is a free 3d application that can be used for any purpose. Please note that the Eevee viewport is still very much in production and the build is unstable. You can download the stable release of Blender here https://www.blender.org/download/ And you can try the Eevee viewport if you download an unstable build of Blender 2.8. https://builder.blender.org/download/

  1. Heh. When you said "turn on the magnifying glass" in the outliner I thought you mean some new feature in Blender. I didn't realize you meant enable the magnifying glass object you created. LOL. That's really awesome that it can do real time IOR stuff, we've come such a long ways.

  2. May I know how many years of experience do you have. 🙂 🙂 🙂 You are a Master. I cannot express how much satisfaction I got while watching every second of this video. I am very new to Blender. Currently trying to change my career from Website designing to Game Development. This is one of those videos/clips which motivates me so much. Thanks again for this video.

  3. You're rapidly becoming my fave 3D artist. Have you ever done any tutorials? Also interested in your workstation specs.
I wish I could afford Zbrush. I refuse to pirate it.
