Hi Animators! 🙂 In this Tutorial I show the use of the Maya Constraint, analyzing different situations where you’ll need it.
This tutorial is based on the principles explained in the Lesson 10 “SECONDARY ACTION” https://iwanttobeananimator.wordpress.com/2018/01/11/lesson-10-secondary-action-recap/

  1. Hello, when I do an Orient Constraint of an object to a locator I can make it turn fine but only on his original position, if I translate the object and after that I translate the locator (so far this is what I want) I can not rotate any more on his one axis, the rotation is diferent

  2. Thank you so much! I’m doing a shot with the character swinging a bo staff so it’s mostly one hand holding it, sometimes both, then switches to the other hand for a few frames while the primary hand changes positions on the staff. I’m probably biting off way more than I can chew, but this video will definitely help!

Also, I wish I knew about constraints when I did a walk cycle with one of the hands on the hips haha.

  3. Extremely Useful information BUT Too fast. This is for beginners but they can't learn with Pro Speed. plus your speech pace is also fast. like you want to complete it under a gun point. I definitely gonna use written version.
Thank you very much for all your videos.

  4. For the tutorial where one item is switching from one hand to another, how does one do it with referenced items that has a rig? I can't parent the item under the 2nd hand Locator and not sure how to go around it

  5. Hi Chiara ! Thanks for these wonderful Tuts. I have an issue. i'm using Maya 2018 and when i want to release any constrained object, i switch the 'blend parent' attribute to 0. BUT what happens is my Object just jumps back to its original position where it was before constraining. Help please.
