This is a really in-depth tutorial looking at how to shoot stunning landscape photographs using your drone. This tutorial is split into three sections:
Preparing for your shoot: 0:00
Location shooting: 3:07
Editing: 10:31
I used the DJI phantom 3 professional for this shoot but the principles are exactly the same regardless of what UAV (drone) you are using.
Getting the most from your drone photography really is about putting in the legwork in the preparation stage and selecting the right location and the right time of day. Once you’re at the location spend time before getting your drone into the sky, scoping out what you want to shoot and dialling in the settings to your camera so you maximise your flight time. Aim to get 1 or 2 really good shots per flight. You’ll then want to spend a decent amount of time editing your drone photographs to get the best possible results.
A huge thanks to Toby Russell who very kindly helped me film the location shooting section.

very nice tutorial, Jonathan
great job! what laptop are you using for post processing?
Thanks so much. Very practical pre and post production advice. I am a new certified pilot and need to absorb as much as i can about photo production for work.
very good!
Pretty amazing work there J, keep it up – very informative.
if you are shooting in raw and you can adjust your exposure in post then why do you need multiple shots in different exposures
Thanks!
Beautiful shots !
Great Video John thank you,
Quick question if you don't mind.
What editor are you using to combine your shots with the different exposures?
Thanks will be following your tube channel it's very helpful.
Cheers Mick
Hey, amazing tutorial ! Thumbs up ! I have seen it a couple of time and i'am asking each times why do you use auto-tone in the hdr process ?
I mean, why do you don't do it yourself as a photographer ?
Maybe, i didn't get what auto-tone really do ^^
Great job again, you are like a teacher to me 🙂
what tablet are you using? great video thanks
An you print these shots?
Thank you.
At 8:30 he is changing the exposure, is this feature available on he P3S?
Just excellent reference material and clearly a lot of time spent on the same. Thank you.
Absolutely brilliant thank you.
What is the first program in editing process?
Hi. How is the hudl2 working as a screen? Any problems?
rich of information. thumbs up!
I'm actually curious why you choose to shoot into the sun, my thought was to fly out over the ocean and shoot back towards the shoreline with the sun coming in from the left show great color and shadows with the low sun angle and golden light. Just curious.
What is the website to get the sun information?
Great clip! Did you think about sharing it on http://www.dronetheworld.com. The leading side for drone videos.
Tip: Instead of manually changing EV you can use AEB and choose 3 or 5 shots and it will do the work for you
What is the software you used to merge the photo's ?
Extremely easy to follow and super entertaining! Keep up the great work. Thanks for sharing
Hi Jonathan. Excellent tutorial my friend and looking forward to exploring other films on your channel. I am just getting into Drones myself and would like to use them for still and video landscape work. Do you have a licence for your drone for such use. I was wanting to sell my images at some point but notice the commercial licence is quite a hefty price. Keep up the good work. Julian

Well explained.
Wow. great!
Great Video guide just bought my first drone so watching closely many thanks.
You're sharing gold Jonathan, thanks!
I've always had an interest in photography and technology and the drone for me is just a cool way to take pictures. I've had my Phantom 3 Advanced for about a week and already sussed out the hard way about planning. 1. Open areas with no trees…steep learning curve for me! 2. Plan a flight path. Just 2 options already I've learned, just wish I'd seen your video tutorial first. Thanks for the videos, its giving inspiration. I have done a video as a trial run, fairly happy as its my first attempt. Click on my name to view.
Great video Jonathan, many thanks for sharing.

dude, Love your drone stuff. Quick question, is ure drone camera the same camera when you bought it or have you upgraded it? cause I just bought a phantom 4 and, it may just be me not fiddling around that much with the settings but the camera seems to be 'meh' at best
wow , so much to learn here and thank You very much for showing these details. Thanks a lot and Greetings from WW2HistoryHunter
Very informative and easy to understand, thanks for that.
Amazing video ! Thanks for explaining everything so easily
What programs would you recommend for an up and coming photographer that's on a budget.
